We’re still awaiting its release into Early Access but some lucky souls have had a chance to fly the aircraft already. Jabbers, Magz and DevildogGamer all have preview builds and they are sharing their experiences and plenty of eye candy.
Take-off, hover, SEAD, more!
The Harrier has a lot of unique features including suppression of enemy air defenses (SEAD), vertical take-off and landing, vectoring thrusters, and some pretty fancy digital cockpit features.
First impressions from Jabbers is a fairly low-key but informative look at the AV-8B with a target attack using a Sidearm, Mavericks, and even a gun-pod.
Then Magz from MagzTV takes on the AV-8B in a couple of videos. First, his first impressions video with some details of systems (and ones still not fully setup).
… and then he follows it up with a Wild Weasel SEAD attack on an active SAM site.
Finally, DevildogGamer flies the preview AV-8B in his own first impressions video.
There may be more videos out there but this should give you a good idea on what the upcoming module is like. It looks superbly detailed and the fidelity of the systems modeling is typically top notch. Exactly what you’d expect from a high fidelity DCS module. If the Harrier jump jet is your kind of thing… this seems to be what you’ve been waiting for.
