I already warned everyone about getting excessively excited (and anxious) for the next IL-2 patch but all signs are pointing to a potential release for this week.
Time for the Thunderbolt
Our latest look at the Thunderbolt came today with an update on the official IL-2 Sturmovik Facebook page. The beautiful shot features a P-47 with all eight .50cals going and a full air-to-ground loadout.
So, does it portent a release in the next couple of days? Optimistically, I’m going to go with yes! More realistically, I think it’s important to not be disappointed if the patch doesn’t come by the end of the day Wednesday and 1CGS decides to push it another week. We know the team is committed to quality patches rather than rushing content out.
We’ll know in a couple of days!

Why must you read my mind Shamrock? I probably think about if this is coming out tomorrow more than I should. The most surprising thing, (still more excited for the new planes) is the damage model for ground forces! That change, if it is implemented in the kind of detail they describe will be an immense boost in realism, for me at least.

Woo woo, all aboard!
The change to ground vehicles and their damage models is one of the many exciting effects that building a tank sim in a flight sim will give back to the flight sim side. Very interested to see how it goes.
IL-2 already had the lead for ground vehicle damage modeling. This will put it another leap above the competition for sure.

This will be – arguably – the first properly done P-47 ever.
It’s not an especial favourite of mine but I am nevertheless excited.

So is anyone else having trouble gettingthe 47 up to speed at alt? sitting at 20,000 ft and cant get it over 260mph with all inlets and shutters closed, and all of my throttles to the 100%, boost not on.
Am I right of it?
