There was no DCS World Beta update this week which isn’t all that unusual but we have word from Eagle Dynamics community manager, NineLine, that the current goal of the next open beta is to bring with it the DCS: F-16. Let’s look at the details and estimate the release date.

Whatever you saw on Steam is wrong

Steam Store has a policy of forcing developers to include a release date. We saw it with the DCS: F-14 from Heatblur and we’re seeing it again from Eagle Dynamics and their DCS: F-16C. Though September 25, today, was a reasonable guess by Eagle Dynamics when they put it up for early access, it’s just an estimate.

Still, as estimates go, they may be pretty close to target and here’s why.

Coming in the next open beta?

According to Eagle Dynamics community manager NineLine, there was no Open Beta this week because the team is working towards making the DCS: F-16 fit into the next Open Beta patch.

Dear all, once again this week there will be no Open Beta update, I am sure most of you figured this out, but a proper build with the Viper is being created. While I cant say when for sure it will come, that is the current goal of the next Open Beta.

DCS World Open Beta patches tend to arrive on Wednesday’s and given the progress made on the DCS: F-16, the knowledge that Eagle Dynamics is now temporarily pulling developers from other teams to get the new module out the door, and the statement above, I’m going to make a guess at two dates.

The first would be next Wednesday, October 2, 2019. The second would be Wednesday, October 9, 2019.

It’s also possible that the next open beta will come sans DCS: F-16C if its just not quite ready. Only time will tell but it’s clear that we’re very close now!
