Rounding up some of the latest news from RAZBAM including a new poll to determine the style of the F-15E UFC, a new look at the latest 3D modeling on their IA 58 Pucará, and a few more shots of the English Electric Lightning!

A poll for the F-15E UFC?

According to RAZBAM, their efforts on the F-15E have reached a critical point and the team is actively seeking the impressions of the community on the type of UFC that will be featured in their F-15E.

According to the poll, they are building a Suite 4+ version of the F-15E which featured two different types of UFC for the aircraft – depending on the age of the jet. It’s an interesting conundrum and although RAZBAM could make the executive decision and just model it the way they want to… they have instead asked for community input.

The screenshot above shows off the older style UFC while a more digital version is also possible.

I’m more of a digital guy when it comes to modern jets – essentially, I love analog for the WWII aircraft and I want digital gizmos on my modern jet fighters, so I voted for the digital version and apparently I’m not alone in this with analog trailing in the poll. Despite that, there’s still time to get your opinion in too over here on the DCS World forums.

Pucará coming together

The Argentinian IA 58 Pucará counter insurgency aircraft is right at home in the DCS: South Atlantic theatre that RAZBAM has been building and RAZBAM’s modelers have shown off the latest images of the aircraft.

With a top speed of 500km/h and an armament configuration that includes four 7.62mm FN Browning machine guns and two 20mm Hispano-Suiza HS.804 autocannons, the specs of the Pucará are more akin to a WWII aircraft than a more modern type. That said, just like other COIN aircraft, it’s longer loiter time and slow speed can make it useful for close support.

More Lightning shots

The Lightning has captured people’s attentions and RAZBAM’s artists have been showing off more of the work in progress model and texture work. It’s impressive stuff and it’s really coming together.

Although it certainly has a niche, fans of British aircraft have been calling for a Lightning for a good long while and it looks like RAZBAM will eventually be able to deliver although it may be quite some time before this aircraft arrives – visuals are one thing, programming will be another. That said, it’s list of weapons and systems is certainly shorter than a modern type so it may take less time than I think.

MiG-23 landing gear

The latest image from the modeler working on the MiG-23 is this detailed shot of the landing gear. A complex mechanism was used to extend the main and nose gear on this aircraft and so it will be interesting to see that in action. There’s a lot of detail here!
