Orbx releases their first aircraft, the EA-7 Edgley Optica for MSFS

Orbx is well known for being a company that does typically high quality scenery packages and sells both scenery and aircraft through their OrbxDirect storefront. Now they are throwing their hat into the ring as an aircraft creator as well with the EA-7 Edgley Optica.

Ideal scenery viewing

Being a scenery development company, Orbx seems to have picked the perfect first aircraft to release as the EA-7 is an unusual aircraft designed for long duration observation work. The EA-7 Edgley unusual center mounted engine and cockpit design gives the type a more helicopter like view and its extremely low cruise speed make it ideal touring around and appreciating the details of an area.

As this is Orbx’s first aircraft, I’m very interested to check this out and see how it matches up with other developers.

If you’re interested in picking this up, the aircraft is available from the OrbxDirect store for AUD $19.99, US$15.47, €12,71, or £10.92.

This is like something VSkyLabs normally does – never thought I’d see it in any sim, TBH. Was pretty happy when Orbx announced, and that they kept the price quite low, too.

Perfect for folks that usually pick a Cessna 150/172 but want something interesting. And the view is certainly better!

I love that MSFS has enabled flight sim pilots to fly a wide variety of aircraft. Far wider than I had expected.
