Over the last few days we’ve seen a few new videos out of Eagle Dynamics detailing updates for the DCS: F/A-18C Hornet, the DCS: F-16C Viper, and some updates for DCS WWII related materials too. Here’s what we’ve seen over the last few days!
Automated landing
One of the new features on its way to the DCS: F/A-18C is the ACLS (Automatic Carrier Landing System). In a new video from Eagle Dynamic’s Matt Wagner, we get a chance to see how to setup the ACLS in the mission editor and then how to fly it in the Hornet. The feature, simply put, enables hands free flying for landing on the carrier.
Following the release of this video about 48-hours ago (at the time of this writing), there was some follow-up and then some concerns in the community about the accessibility of the feature.
Initial clarification was that the ACLS system would be available only as part of the DCS: Supercarrier experience. Many in the community pointed out, however, that the feature was promised to the Hornet rather than to Supercarrier module. Not enabling it for the conventional, non-Supercarrier version of the Stennis, would be a disappointment.
Fortunately, it looks like Eagle Dynamics is listening closely and appear to be adjusting course. NineLine, Eagle Dynamics Community Manager, posted some notes in a variety of locations including on r/Hoggit explaining that the Link 4 datalink and Beacon system would be investigated for potential inclusion on the regular carrier which would enable the ACLS system there.

Changes for the Viper
A variety of changes are coming to DCS: F-16C. The first change is some symbology updates for the fire control radar screen. Next, all three airspeed calibrations are now available which lays the groundwork for the cruise page coming later. New fuse options are available on the Stores Management Page. Cursor Zero will now be added to the FCR and Targeting Pod pages when powered off as well.

WWII updates
SUNTSAG ANCIENT GAMER from Eagle Dynamics has a new video out detailing some updates for DCS WWII. The first is some LOD updates for the Ju88 which had some performance issues when displayed in large groups. Reportedly this has been fixed!
For Combined Arms there are a few updates. The .50cal is now available from within the cockpit of the M4 and vehicles can now be started and stopped.
The Bf109K-4 and Fw190D-9 have some minor updates. The K-4’s 3D model has been adjusted to be more accurate and the D-9 now has an adjustable course setting bezel. There’s a tailwheel LOD update for the P-51D, and some minor graphical errors on the Mosquito have been sorted out as well.
All in all, a good selection of updates coming to a wide area of DCS World. These changes are due in the next open beta and beyond.
Stormbirds 
Always enjoy seeing improvements, especially to the older models. I’d like the see the K-4 get a real cockpit facelift, but that might take a while.

Huh, I expected this patch today, as in multiple of the above linked releases do they talk about the late april patch. Guess Wednesdays aren’t patchdays these days..

Wednesday is typically patch day but I haven’t seen much activity to suggest that it will happen this week. It may have been put off for another week – clearly there’s a lot of new stuff on the way.

The Hornet video is exactly why I prefer flying older aircraft. I just get a headache listening to the endless acronyms and button presses. I enjoy the sensation of the modern aircraft, but am turned-off by their complexity and general screwing around required before you can launch a weapon.
