Eagle Dynamics’ weekly update dropped today with a bunch of new information including the official release of the Su-33 “Flanker-D” in full beta and a really great sale on Flaming Cliffs 3. Read on!
Flaming Cliffs sale
Eagle Dynamics has a habit of offering a variety of small sales but its rare that the series will offer big discounts. They do, just not frequently. This is one of those times where the series is offering a substantial discount on a good chunk of content.
Flaming Cliffs is currently on offer for 70% off the regular price. The sale lasts until October 2nd so you have a little time. This is probably one of the best bangs for the buck in the DCS series offering a wide variety of aircraft. The F-15C, A-10A, Su-27, Su-33, MiG-29A, MiG-29S, Su-25T, and Su-25 are all included in the package.
These aircraft are simpler to learn and fly than most of the standalone DCS modules though the graphical and systems fidelity is still there (and its certainly not a quick learn even with the simplified systems). Many of the aircraft have received upgrades in recent history with the Su-33 being the next variant to get an update.
Check out the e-Store for details!
NOTE: These sales haven’t appeared in what I can see on the DCS e-Store. It may be delayed.
UPDATE: Sources within the DCS community report that this sale is for DCS e-Store buyers who already have bonus dollars available to spend (you get a few of these each time you buy something from the e-Store). If you have enough you can get the 70% off sale.
Su-33 “Flanker-D” released

The navalized version of the Su-27 is known as the Su-33 (or Flanker-D in NATO parlance) and is nearly ready for full release. This updated and refined version of the aircraft long available in the series is in DCS World 1.5.7 beta. You need to have the beta release (an option) to fly it right now. The current stable release does not yet have it.
The Su-33 upgrade comes with a number of key upgrades including a new engine mode for carrier takeoffs, new flight control and engine control schemes for carrier landings and aerial refueling and a new automatic collision avoidance system for safe ‘nap of the Earth’ flying.
The release also comes with a new video showcasing the new Su-33 and the new Caucasus map in DCS World 2.5. The look at the upcoming Caucasus map alone is impressive as is the incredible lighting and shadow graphics that the new engine is capable of.
NS 430 navigation system
The NS 430 Navigation System for DCS: Mi-8MTV2 gets a video this week too. This extra module for the Mi-8 produced by Belsimtek has caused some uproar in the community over the charging of individual components. Nonetheless, this recreation of a well known GPS module in aviation circles is extremely authentic down to the menu systems and interface.
The video is our second video look at the new Caucasus map too so its worth watching for that alone!
