Sturmovikfest – Community IL-2: Great Battles Virtual Festival
I’m very pleased to announce Sturmovikfest as presented by Stormbirds.blog. I’ve been working behind the scenes for a couple of weeks on this and I’m very excited to share an idea with the IL-2: Great Battles community that I hope will bring us all together for some exciting flight sim experiences including a solid week of multiplayer fly-in events as well as some new exclusive content coming here to the blog and hopefully a few pleasant surprises as well. These are the details and my appeal for support from all of you to make this event something special.
A celebration of IL-2: Great Battles

I thought it’d be a good thing to, in this time of distancing, to come together virtually as a community to celebrate the sim that we love with a special event that I hope will become a yearly event. I am calling this the First Annual Sturmovik Fest presented by Stormbirds.blog and I very much hope to be able to take this festival and make it much bigger than just myself or this blog.
This announcement today is as much about spreading the word as it is a call to action around the community to take part. Be you a multiplayer streamer, a skin artist, a single player mission designer, a storyteller, or a community member, I want to hear from you and your ideas on how to show support for this endeavour.

- When: April 26, 2020 to May 3, 2020
- Where: All across the IL-2 community including here on Stormbirds
What events will be taking place:
- Multiplayer fly-in on each day of the festival (schedule TBA)
- Launch of the Stormbirds Podcast as well as a special edition Q&A podcast with IL-2 Lead Producer Jason Williams
- A few more surprises to come hopefully!
Multiplayer fly-in

I’d love to encourage as much multiplayer support during the festival time, and I hope myself to be able to participate in a fly-in on every day or night of the festival if I can. In the coming days I hope to be able to setup a schedule of times appropriate to virtual pilots all over the world to be able to participate in at least one fly-in.
The schedule below is a loose setup as I’d like the community to help weigh in on our options and for servers to come forward with suggestions. Together we’ll come up with something fun!
I’m also hoping to make sure some of these events are Flying Circus and Tank Crew oriented multiplayer sessions. Specifically, if anyone can recommend a server or if you run a server with strong Tank Crew support, I’d love to hear from you.

Multiplayer can be daunting and so I want to make special mention of Requiem’s new Discord. This is space oriented around learning flight simulation and getting involved with new ways to fly and new ways to experience the series.
I also realize that much of this is multiplayer oriented and it is easier to make a festival around a multiplayer event where everyone can take part. If anyone has ideas on how to engage around single player I’m also all ears. Even if you can’t engage in the multiplayer flying, I am hoping to have a long list of YouTubers and streamers who can provide live or recorded gameplay so you can watch even if you are unable to participate. If I can include you in the festival in any way, let me know!

Supporters
In putting this festival together I’ve already talked either briefly or at length with supporters all around the community. If you want to show your support, flash the logo I created up above anywhere you feel it appropriate and let me know. I will add you to the list!
