I thought that update 4.702, not considering the P-51B, would be a fairly small last update of the year but this one has some nice content packed into it including two new Flying Circus campaigns and a bunch of other content. Let’s have a look!
Long awaited Mustang

The P-51B Mustang has taken a long time to put together. It feels like 1CGS has been working on it, in public view, for many months and indeed they have. But it looks like their hard won efforts were worth it as the P-51B comes packed with tons of modifications making it possibly one of the most complete P-51B models that I’ve seen in a flight sim. Those modifications include:
- Three gunsights
- Two canopies
- Flexible US and UK bomb loadouts (depending on the skin)
- Two engines
- Two additional boost levels
I’ll be looking at all of those in my upcoming review!
It also comes packing the new dynamic vehicle damage system and tactical codes system. Nice!
New Flying Circus campaigns and missions

Taking me completely by surprise, community member Jaegermeister has released two new campaigns for Flying Circus Vol 1. Gallant Green focuses on the SE5a and Red Knights features the Albatros D.V. The campaigns are joined by an additional 10-missions for Flying Circus Vol 1 aircraft. Presumably that’s one mission per aircraft in the release.
The missions and campaigns come free with Flying Circus Vol 1.
The campaigns also make use of an optional skin package available for download here that feature 28 custom skins.
More stuff
Also packed into this update are all new updated skins for the Fw190A-8, Bf109G-6/14, Bf109K-4, Me262 and P-47D-22/27 all by Martin =ICDP= Catney. Oyster_KAI has redrawn some interior textures on most German radio compasses, seats and throttle controls for the Bf109 and P-51D panel lettering. There are new fire effects, improvements to cloud rendering (although AMD GPU owners might see some issues which 1CGS are aware of and are working to fix), and tracers and nav lights are no longer visible through the new clouds.
All in all, this is an impressive patch given its supposed “small” size. I can’t wait to check it all out!
