A new PMDG status update is out and it covers a wide array of items from the long awaited EFB interface for the 737 series to the emergence of more 737 variants on the Marketplace to a brief status update on Xbox and the 777 too.

Xbox and Marketplace news

One of the bigger items that PMDG is working on right now is releasing more of their products to the Marketplace and to Xbox pilots. The update indicates that one of their primary goals is to release their liveries package onto the Marketplace (primarily intended for Xbox users) starting with the DC-6. If that goes well then the 737 packages will follow. Xbox users aren’t able to drop liveries into a folder like we can on PC and PMDG have separated out their base livery and optional liveries.

Once the process of releasing these to the public goes forward, PMDG are then going to release the 737-600 and 737-900 to the Marketplace for all. Both are reportedly ready but they don’t want to “flood the marketplace” according to PMDG’s Robert Randazzo.

737 updates

It’s approaching a year since PMDG first indicated that an EFB/tablet interface would be available. The delays to this feature have been documented and talked about previously, however, we do appear to have some encouraging news.

The system is now in the hands of testers and feedback is coming in. According to the update, outside designers have made several suggestions that they intend to implement.

PMDG are building the system to ensure that it works across all of their current and future products so hopefully the delay upfront leads to a solid experience down the road.

777 underway

According to the update, PMDG aren’t that far away from starting to preview their 777. That’s typically a good sign as it means that the product is getting to a state that it exists in the sim, its systems are working, and PMDG will be starting to think about a release. A “final push” to get the 777 into our virtual hangars is mentioned so the next several months should be interesting.

The PMDG update also mentions nav data updates, and Prepar3D v6, so be sure to check out the full report here.
