Microsoft Flight Simulator aircraft developer AzurPoly has provided an update on their project via their Facebook page. We learn a little about some forthcoming updates to their C-160 Transall project that includes updates to the aircraft’s EFIS and the addition of a HUD intended for night time operations.

Updates incoming

The C-160 has been a bit of a stealth hit for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The military transport has flown under the radar for some but for those who have jumped into its cockpit and spacious cargo hold have found quite a lot to like. For all of its pluses, the C-160 by AzurPoly also needs a little more development work before its really truly a complete project and so it’s great to hear from the developers about what they are doing.

Here’s what they wrote on their Facebook page:

Next update will concentrate on avionics with many additions to EFIS screens and FMS, the goal being to be able to manage flight plans without necessarily using the GPS.

But also this nice head-up display that was optionally fitted to the C-160 NG version, to keep all important flight parameters in sight

The EFIS, FMS, and navigational system interaction has been one area that the C-160 has needed some additional work. Some significant updates in this area would transform the Transall’s capability to fly and navigate significantly.

The optional HUD is also a nice touch connecting the transport aircraft with additional capabilities that are particularly useful at night. HUDs have been a challenge for many MSFS developers and although the underlying technology is now present it remains to be seen how well this will be implemented. I look forward to checking it out and taking it out on some missions in the near future like this one that I flew with some friends several weeks back!
