Fans of the Microsoft Flight Simulator Fenix A320 have cause to rejoice tonight as Block 1 of the Version 2.0 release of their well regarded A320ceo has just become available today. With it we get a substantial change log with improvements across the board. Let’s have a look!

Fenix goes to V2

It was just a few days ago that Fenix revealed their plans to release version 2.0 of their A320 sim in two major Block releases with plans to follow that up with an A319 and A321 coming later this year.

Block 1 includes changes to nearly the entire product with a rewrite of the aircraft’s display technology, tweaks to the flight model, fly-by-wire system, autopilot, and other avionics and systems. Better overall performance and a revised flight model are the big ticket items here in my mind.

Further improvements and new features are planned in Block 2 so this all just the beginning of a big set of changes.

Fenix does caution some users who are wary of jumping to the new version that this release is hot off the presses and that they do expect a few bumps along the way. Here’s what they had to say:

Now, whilst all of this is very exciting, there is a very important caveat that should be noted. You are about to go from a mature release that has been proven over 9 months by thousands of users, to a build run earlier today, and tested by a couple dozen testers. Whilst we’ve worked hard to ensure there are no super egregious issues that’ll ruin the fun, we do anticipate a fair few bumps and lumps in this version as we go from an in-house testing team, to the wild west of the entire customer base.

Even with the possibilities of some issues, this seems like an exciting time for new and old fans of the Fenix A320 series.
