A bunch of updates are included with the latest developer blog entry for the IL-2 series. Three aircraft are coming soon to the series including the Li-2 and there are also various enhancements to the career mode that single player pilots will want to read about as well. Here’s what we know!
Three aircraft

The Li-2, Albatross D.II and Nieuport 17 are all on their way to IL-2 Great Battles in the near future. We’ve seen all three in recent updates so there’s nothing new to reveal on each of them individually. The news is that they are slated to come with update 5.106 which is currently in beta testing.
The Albatross and Nieuport are included with Flying Circus Vol 3 while the Li-2 is available for separate purchase as a Collector plane.
New missions
Career mode has been a significant boost for the IL-2 series single player experience, however, we added variety to the mission types is something that is needed particularly for some types of aircraft. Fortunately it looks like we’re seeing some good updates in that space.
The Li-2 gets its own set of missions that it can fly with the currently available cargo delivery and airborne operations being joined by a new dropping of supplies over enemy-held territory at night mission. The Li-2 was also used in the bomber role with GVF (Civilian Air Fleet) receiving mostly transport missions and DD (Long Range) Regiments tasked with bomber missions more frequently.
IL-2, U-2VS, Bf 109 E-7 and Ju-87 (II./St.G 1) pilots will now sometimes be assigned artillery spotting missions and 811 ShAP will get the more rare opportunity to spot for “small ship guns” which I assume are some of the gunboats available over Stalingrad.
There are also new intruder missions available for Mosquito, Tempest, Typhoon, and Me 410 with a few different variations that include lone intruder and night attacks.
Specific squadrons will see more historical weighting of mission types and more variety of missions have been added to Spitfire XIVe photo recce missions.
Various fixes are also being implemented to the current array of campaign missions.
Campaign updates
Two more campaigns are getting the tactical codes update with Hell Hawks and Ten Days of Autumn being the latest to receive the update. Ten Days of Autumn is also getting an update that will add anywhere between 30 and 100% more aircraft and vehicles. This campaign was the first to be released for the series and sported far fewer objects than the current releases do and 1CGS suggests that the average PC should now be able to handle the greater object density.
