The developers over at Flight Sim Studio AG have just announced a new airplane for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The twin engined Tecnam P2012 Traveller is expected to release before the end of the year. Here’s what we know!

Modern commuter airplane

This was a new airplane for me and it turns out that its a new airplane for everyone. The Tecnam P2012 Traveller is a utility short-haul airliner aircraft designed in the mid 2010s with introduction happening in early 2020. Powered by two Lycoming TEO-540C1A with 375 hp, the Traveller can cruise at 170 kn, reach 194 kn maximum speed, travel 950 nmi, and reach a maximum ceiling of 19,500 feet. The airplane was developed for Cape Air of Massachusetts although its been picked up by other companies.

FSS AG has modeled the airplane together with Alpen Air based out of Augsburg, Germany. A short behind the scenes video showcases the team spending time with Alpen Air gathering audio and visual records while in the process of researching the project.

As for features, it seems like the usual array of high quality modeling, G1000 with customized engine, electric, and systems programmed in, together with 5 cabin configurations, immersive sound, and Xbox support. There’s also a mission hub with missions based on real world operators – I’m curious what that entails. State saving and an EFB are planned with Navigraph chart support built in.

The team are planning to release this year and will make it available through Contrail and Aerosoft storefronts first with a Marketplace release later. The price hasn’t been set yet but with release coming soon we’ll undoubtedly find out sooner than later.

A product page has appeared on their website and future updates are planned.

E-Jets E190/195 teases

The FSS AG E-Jets team are also quite busy right now as they ready the release of the E190/195 for Microsoft Flight Simulator. This product, together with their E170/175 remain in early access with the team actively developing the product with updates coming in frequently most of the time.

There has been a slight delay in the latest update which the dev team report is caused by efforts aimed at making sure that both the E170/175 and E190/195 series share all of the appropriate code while separating out the critical pieces that are different between the jets. Although very similar in overall design, the lengthier E190/195 is different in the details and is not just a reskin of the shorter airplane.

Meanwhile multiple screenshots have been released by the team on their Discord server with some of these showing off the work being done on the exterior model.

The roadmap for this project continues to be updated as the team works on the airliner series. The E190/195 is a separate product and will be available with early access pricing first before the jet becomes more expensive when its more complete later on.

On a personal note, I’ve been back in the pilots seat of this airliner recently and have some adventures and updated thoughts on the project to share soon.

Oh that’s cool! I’ve seen an older Tecnam before but not this new one.

Yeah I’ve got some flying time in the recent updates and there are some good changes.
