This week we’ve got another developer update from 1CGS and this time its focused on two aircraft that are coming to Flying Circus Vol 3 in update 5.107. Let’s have a look!

Hanriot and Nieuport 17 GBR

Two aircraft are coming in the next update for Flying Circus fans. The aircraft list for Vol 3 is growing quickly towards completion. The Albatros D.II, Halberstadt D.II, Nieuport 11.C1, Nieuport 17.C1 have all been delivered. Next up are the Hanriot HD.1, a French fighter rejected for service in that nation’s air force but finding good use with the Belgian and Italian air forces.

Four new screenshots show off the work on the Hanriot.

Then we have the Nieuport 17 GBR. This is a redone variant of an aircraft already in Flying Circus Vol 3 but with a British configuration. An overwing Lewis MG replaced the Vickers machine gun and instruments in Imperial measurements were used instead of Metric. Some British crews reportedly put the Vickers gun on their aircraft and some flew with mixed gun loadouts.

New mission types, La-5F career

We have new mission types under testing as well for the upcoming update. Advancing troops support and Defending troops support are two new types. There are also updates to night missions with searchlight beacons, AAA IFF identification, and night fighters added.

The devs appear to have also listened to comments regarding where the La-5F fits into career mode. The 32nd GIAP is being added to the mix and will fly both La-5F and La-5FN planes from July 5th to October 7th in the Kuban career.

Read all about it here.

  1. No posting here on this subject, is the popularity of this game in a steep downfall?

Although some have pushed that narrative, according to Steam player numbers we haven’t seen a big drop.

Now Steam is not the whole story because not everyone bought it through Steam, but we can use it as an analogue for overall player numbers. https://steamcharts.com/app/307960#All

Multiplayer does seem to have quieted down somewhat but whenever I sign in there are still servers that are well populated. This isn’t unique to IL-2 either as many multiplayer games have seen their numbers drop from a peak in 2020 – unsurprising.
