Jaegermeister’s new Overlord campaign, La-5F Series 38 collector plane and the Hanriot HD.1 and Nieuport 17 GBR (British) are all launching today with the release of Update 5.107. Here are the highlights.

Campaign maker Jaegermeister’s new Overlord campaign is here for Battle of Normandy and the P-51B. The 15 mission campaign starts you off as a replacement pilot starting out as a wingman and has you end the campaign as flight leader. Flying with the 354th Fighter Group and assigned to the 356th “Red Ass” Squadron, escort, fighter sweep, search and rescue and ground attack missions.

The campaign is now on sale on the IL-2 store and on Steam for $9.99 USD regularly and with an $8.99 USD promo price.

La-5F Series 38 collector plane arrives

The La-5F Series 38 Collector Plane is now on sale providing us with a middle ground option between the early La-5 and La-5FN aircraft. The La-5F sports the improved canopy with better visibility as well as overall performance improvements that place it somewhere between the La-5 and La-5FN in overall performance. Its reportedly more agile than the La-5 and a better turn fighter than the La-5FN.

The La-5FN is on sale with a promo price of $17.99 USD and normally $19.99 USD – standard pricing. You can get it on the IL-2 store or on Steam.

Hanriot HD.1 and Nieuport 17 GBR (British) come to Flying Circus Vol 3

Two more airplanes come to Flying Circus Vol 3 with the launch of the Hanriot HD.1 and the Nieuport 17 GBR (British).

Hanriot HD.1 was intended to replace the Nieuport 17 but ended up being outshone by the Spad 7 that had already entered service with the French. The fighter ended up finding life with other Allied nations including Belgium who used the aircraft to good effect.

Nieuport 17 GBR is a variant of the standard French version with British instrumentation. The fighter was so popular and instrumental in turning the tied back in favour of the Allies that it was flown by quite a few Royal Flying Corps squadrons and it was the aircraft that Canadian Ace Billy Bishop managed to score 28 of his 72 kills in.

Other updates

There have been other changes to IL-2 as well with some further enhancements of the campaign system with a reduction in German fighters during Normandy and Rhineland scenarios. Search lights, night fighters, and pathfinder aircraft have been added to night missions. There have also been updates to the Li-2, tweaks to the Spitfire IXe’s skins, and corrections to the Nieuport 11 and 17s engine overcooling issues.
