A new update from Aerosoft in recent days has indicated that they have made some progress on autopilot systems and talked about what their next steps are. This is latest on the A330 project.
AP issues solved
An earlier update from Aerosoft was forthright with some issues that their code was having on the autopilot system following waypoints. Instead of going along a straight line, the airplane was deviating left and right along the course in a kind of sine-wave. I appreciate when developers are upfront about challenges and equally so I celebrate when they’ve solved them. Aerosoft report that they have dug through quite a bit of code and solved this one.

Other updates indicated that the A330’s engine performance values have now been set which in turn enables their sound engineer to continue working there. That’s good news! Other good news includes word that the 3D model is almost finished as well.
Other work on aircraft systems continue as well with work to have the aircraft’s systems continuously calculate route, speed, altitude climb, descent, etc. Aerosoft report that this is their area of focus at the moment.
An earlier update reported that they had completed their work on implementing the checklist system, built-into the sim, to ensure that procedures are easier to follow. This is a good feature to have and a must have for any aircraft in the sim. Aerosoft do report that auto-complete cannot be guaranteed – but I do hope that their EFB will enable ease of state changes the way that it does in their CRJ.
