The folks at SimWorks Studios are in the final stages of releasing their long awaited PC-12 project for Microsoft Flight Simulator. We’ve got new updates for it and for other products across the whole of their portfolio. Here’s the latest.
PC-12 final stages, failures discussion
SimWorks Studios have completed their PC-12 project to a level that they are now sending the aircraft to Pilatus for review and verification. They don’t know how long the process will take but they aren’t waiting around as they have some loose ends to tie up while that process is ongoing.
They have confirmed that tutorial videos are being produced right now, that the aircraft will provide support for both TDS and PMS50 GTN750/650 configurations, and that they have made a difficult decision on the inclusion of failures into the product.
Their Kodiak 100 was among the first to feature a failures system, however, they have decided to use that experience and take a different approach with the PC-12. In short, SWS have identified that the market is split between those who want failures, those who don’t want failures, and those who would like to be able to turn them on and off. As they don’t currently have a tablet/EFB interface (one is being worked on) the most logical solution is to offer two packages, a lower base price with full fidelity simulation without failures and a second price/upgrade that brings with it the failures system.
This seems like a smart compromise bringing the base price down and giving customers the option to pay for the extra failure systems if they want them. Those who want them definitely want to have them on while others are less interested in that are are more procedural focused. Both are valid options here.
Meanwhile they are working on follow-up features for the PC-12 that do include a tablet, weather radar, and improved avionics.
Other updates

Other products in their portfolio have seen recent updates including the RV-10 which fixes a flap/cruise speed discrepancy. A much delayed update to the Zenith 701 is also on the way which includes a reworked flight model that uses data from the National eSTOL competition team to dial in the STOL capabilities.
The RV-8/8A is also making progress. The type’s glass cockpit configuration is complete while animating the analogue cockpit is currently underway. Flight model tuning is also currently underway while the sound work has not yet started.
