SimWorks Studios has finally arrived at release day for their officially licensed Pilatus PC-12 for Microsoft Flight Simulator. Happy day! We have pricing, features, a trailer and more so let’s dig into it.
Turboprop power
A high fidelity rendition of the PC-12 for Microsoft Flight Simulator has just arrived from SimWorks Studios. The team have worked for well over a year on the project and have managed to have it officially licensed by Pilatus. Both Pilatus Aircraft and Fly7 Executive Aviation (a group that fly a small fleet of PC-12) helped in the development.
SWS are releasing this aircraft with a range of features. Systems include a custom EIS50, custom electrical system with working circuit breakers, custom ITT simulation and altitude limiting for the turboprop engine, as well as support for PMS50 GTN, TDS GTNXi and the Sky4Sim tablet. Both four and five blade propeller options are available.
The SWS team spent a week training on a PC-12 simulator at the Fly7 Training Center in Lausanne Switzerland which they report helped them develop a highly detailed flight model. We know from developer reports that they weren’t able to capture all of the unique traits of the PC-12 in MSFS but it does sound like they came relatively close.
Their marketing material also report that 2,800 sounds were recorded from multiple real aircraft including ambient sounds, aural warnings, air conditioning sounds and unique sounds for both four and five bladed propellers.
There are 13 liveries plus one white livery with different interior configurations available that include commuter, executive, and cargo.
SimWorks Studios are charging €24.99 through their website and report that the aircraft will be on sale on Contrail, SimMarket and iniBuilds soon.
Release challenges
Some early problems have cropped up already and SWS were quick to send out an update just 12 hours after the launch. The problems were centered around some avionics quirks with the TDS GTNXi install not working properly, fixed inoperative DirectTo and Home buttons on the GTN750, visual artifacts on GTN glass surfaces and a corrected checklist.
Quick action that I’m sure is appreciated!
This one goes on my list of aircraft that I hope to check out soon!
