Blackbird Simulations offshoot brand Shrike Simulations has just revealed that their next aircraft release will be the F-86 Sabre. The Microsoft Flight Simulator release is set for March 30th so the wait won’t be all that long. Let’s have a look!

Sabre time!

Shrike Simulations is an offshoot of Blackbird Simulations that offer lower cost aircraft options with fewer features than the usual Blackbird aircraft and that’s what this new F-86 for Microsoft Flight Simulator is all about. Announced today, the aircraft looks to off a highly detailed exterior, interior, and come packaged with a wide variety of liveries. The guns on the aircraft “work” (you can arm and fire them) and you can package it with exterior weaponry such as HVAR rockets though you’ll only have access to weapons on the non-Marketplace releases.

Aircraft released under the Shrike Simulations brand tend to not feature some of the extras that Blackbird typically does such as wear and tear modeling, systems damage and reliability, etc. This seems more typical of what we see from Asobo/Microsoft partnerships and it offers a lower cost option (as well as what is no doubt a faster development cycle) for folks who just want to fly the plane.

Pricing is not yet available but prior releases have hovered just under the $20 USD mark. I expect we’ll see something similar here.

Check out their website on March 30 for the release!

  2. I love flying the F-86 in DCS… It’ll be interesting to see how they compare.

I’d told myself I wouldn’t buy another thing from MFS 2020… but I might just bend a little for this one.
