We’ve got a new update coming in from developer BlueBird Simulations talking about their 757 project for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The video includes 22 minutes of discussion as well as some great new screenshots of the aircraft and we get to listen in on the sounds of the aircraft too.

Sound preview and more

The latest video talks about quite a few aspects of the project starting with a couple of big picture items. Their team is mostly focused on the 757 with a small percentage of their effort devoted to their follow-on 767 project. Since midway through last year, BlueBird have been working towards a full fidelity simulation of the 757 and their reiterated goal is to create the most realistic simulation of a 757 possible.

Some of the details discussed include their decision to ultimately include a model of their electrical bus system and circuit breakers – despite them not having a typical pilot function. The preview also shows off engines windmilling in the wind and even going so far as to show off that one engine may spin at a different rate than the other depending on direction and based on if the fuselage blocks the wind. There’s also several minutes spent on the aircraft’s air conditioning as a kind of preview of the level of detail planned for all systems.

Graphics are still all a work in progress, especially part of the cockpit, so don’t look too closely at that is the message from the video. Check it out above for the full 22-minute experience though the sounds come in around the 4-minute mark.

  1. glad to see a serious new Boeing developer on the scene!

I’m perfectly satisfied with the Flight Factor 757 variants, so I will probably skip this one.

Have to save my pennies for other birds I don’t already have in one sim or another. 🙂

I am too. I’m in the process of reviewing the PMDG 737 series and they are excellent in many areas but lacking in a few. A little competition on the Boeing side would be good to see and BlueBird appear to have the chops for it!
