Microsoft has announced that Sim Update 15, anticipated for launch tomorrow, has been delayed until April. Here’s what we know!

Still work to do

Sim Update 15 promises to be a large update for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The standout feature is the inclusion of the new iniBuilds A320neo which is intended to replace the default A320neo that was released back in 2020. There are other changes under the hood that include memory management, snow and ice tweaks and a ton of other items. Tonight, however, we’re learning that the update has been delayed.

As you may know, Sim Update 15 was initially targeted to be released tomorrow, March 26th. After careful consideration, the Sim Update 15 release will now be moved to April with the exact date to be determined. Your feedback has helped us identify issues that we would like to continue to work on, so many thanks from our team for your detailed reports and efforts. Our beta testing will continue during this time, and forum discussion can be accessed here: Sim Update 15 Beta.

We thank you for your patience and understanding and look forward to its release!

Though no specific reason is given, a quick scan of the beta forums suggests that there are still a number of bugs and issues that people are experiencing with the update. Delaying it seems prudent.

Furthermore, the videos I’ve watched featuring the new A320neo suggest that the aircraft, though promising, requires quite a bit more work. 290 plus comments detail some of the challenges that folks have been having.

Although I’m excited to try out the new free A320neo when it does arrive, I’m also quite happy to wait until the major issues have been sorted out. Stay tuned for more!

  1. Patch now to remove the Dune loading screen; patch later to add the A320neo. Best solution.
