A bunch of MSFS aircraft news to catch-up on. IndiaFoxtEcho report some good news with the Tornado, Aeroplane Heaven have released their P-47 for MSFS, Cowan Sim has a bunch of helicopter releases happening and planned (plus one new tease), and there are updates from SimWorks Studios on the PC-12 and RV-8 release. Check it all out!

IndiaFoxtEcho report Tornado entering release candidate phase

The latest update from IndiaFoxtEcho is that their highly anticipated Tornado for Microsoft Flight Simulator is moving to release candidate status. This means that beta testing is over with the developers aiming for a releasable product. Stay tuned for more and keep an eye on their Facebook page for release!

Cowan Sim release 222UT for $19.99, tease R44

CowanSim have just released the inaugural CowanSim helicopter, the 222UT, for Microsoft Flight Simulator. The helicopter is packed with features including two panel designs (grey and black), 45 liveries, realistic systems and working electrical breakers, PMS GTN 650/750 Integration and TDS GTNXi 650/750 integration, plus both medical and luxury cabins.

The helicopter is being solid at a lower price, $19.99 USD, on the CowanSim store. And to celebrate it’s also packing a HeliSimmer.com livery. Nice!

CowanSim is clearly not stopping either with the next helicopter already teased and reportedly an EC135. The R44 also on the way and apparently will be released soon!

SimWorks Studios RV-8 analogue update, PC-12 cargo

SimWorks Studios is prepping their RV-8 project for launch and has made some adjustments to the analogue cockpit version of the aircraft. They’ve switched from the GMC307 to GMC305 autopilot system to better match the capabilities of the aircraft.

The aircraft is otherwise reportedly ready to go and is waiting for the imminent release of Sim Update 15.

Meanwhile, a major update on the PC-12 is on the way and the cargo update includes a fully loaded bagged shelf and new cargo tie downs.

Aeroplane Heaven P-47 release

We’ve got a new warbird release by Aeroplane Heaven. Their latest project coming out is the classic P-47D Thunderbolt in “Razorback” configuration. Aeroplane Heaven have made sure to model the P&W R-2800 engine in detail with a removable cowling so you can have a close look at the engine. There’s also cockpit details, animated military pilot (or default Asobo configuration), optional gunsight or GPS setup, custom Wwise audio, and 12 authentic liveries.

The aircraft is available from their webstore for $33.99 USD. You can get more info about the Aeroplane Heaven release here.

  1. Okay, I checked the aeroplane heaven site and although I enjoyed their off hand and somewhat flippant manner I really want to know if these ‘add-ons’ are excellent quality. What do you think of their FM and eye candy factor? Thanks.

ps. Granted, I don’t have MSFS installed, yet. Sort of a debate about whether or not there are enough really great aircraft, admittedly in my opinion, when it comes right down to it, to justify taking the plunge. I would like to discover that this is one.

So Aeroplane Heaven have a bit of a mixed reputation when it comes to their aircraft. They generally make some beautiful aircraft inside and out but sometime struggle on systems and flight modeling.

MSFS has a great range of aircraft now. Some are a bit cheaper and have fewer features while others are much more detailed. The gold standard, one I haven’t reviewed yet, is A2A’s Accu-Sim Comanche. One I have reviewed is Blackbird Simulations C310R which is superb. A personal favourite of mine is the Kodiak 100 from SWS.

It all depends on your price/feature/type range that you’re into. Going beyond GA, the airliner front is almost feeling crowded these days with high end offerings.

    2. if you want high quality MSFS warbirds, better to go with Flying Iron Sims.

the Got Friends F4F Wildcat is another winner.

In re AH, they make extremely beautiful models. Systems are hit or miss. Flight models are average – at best.

if you want excellent warbirds, either go with DCS World (free sim) and the TF-51 there is also free,…

or A2A Simulations in Prepar3D (they haven’t brought them to MSFS yet). And yes, they are THAT good that I’m still recommending them in Prepar3D.

Beyond warbirds, there’s a plethora of choices in MSFS:

for piston GA there is simply nothing better than the A2A Sims Comanche. And that goes for many other aircraft types, as well

      😉

      the FSW C414 is great.

the FSR 500 is my pick for turboprop.

light jet probably the new FSW learjet

modern fast jets, the JustFlight Hawk is gorgeous. Flight model could use a bit of work, but still an outstanding experience.

      also JF Vulcan.

      beyond that,…eh, it gets “murky”.

  2. Some nice stuff, but I’m holding out for the PMDG 777. According to the dev, it should be soon.

  3. Thanks for the tip!

I went over there to buy the 222UT, but since there’s a sale on I ended up getting the 500E & 206 for $15 each instead!

I’ll probably get the 222UT later, but couldn’t pass up the “little birds” for 55% off 🙂

Sounds like you did well there! I have the 500E and I’m slowly, eventually, going to review it but I’m spending a bit of time getting to know a few helicopters in MSFS before I do any real content on it. Curious to see how you get on with it!
