Long awaited and developed over the last couple of years as part of a joint project, The Gamblers is a DCS: F-16C campaign that has reached release state and is now slated to come soon. Here’s the latest information!

Viper ready

Baltic Dragon’s latest campaign is nearly ready to go. The joint project was developed together with The Afterburn Podcast and with Eagle Dynamics to bring us thirteen missions of Viper flying. Baltic reports that the initial mission will help get us into the aircraft but after that things ramp up quickly so you best know your Viper before jumping in.

Here’s what he had to say with the announcement:

You will soon get thirteen exciting missions based on Rain’s experience with the 77th FS during Operation Inherent Resolve in Syria, as well as other iconic moments, such as battles of Raqqa and Khasham (look up that last one, it is very interesting). We also prepared a short tutorial / intro to guide you through all the most important aspects of the campaign. More news to follow!

The campaign will naturally require the DCS: F-16C Viper as well as the DCS: Syria map.

There’s some great artwork for the campaign below. Stay tuned for more information soon!

  1. Never flown a DCS campaign mission. Only flew half of one campaign in IL2. Maybe one day I’ll buy a DCS campaign. A good F-15E A2G campaign would be cool.

    2. You are missing out. There are some really good ones out there. The immersion is great with things happening on the ground around your base and great radio communication etc. I will be buying this one immediately.

I actually use them when buying new airplane modules. It’s a good way to learn by doing rather than following tutorials for things you might not have any use for directly.

    3. Oh, you are definitely missing out, then! 🙂

What I like about them vs Multiplayer is the controlled storyline. Whereas the MP server scenarios can be gamed, and they usually end up being free-for-alls, the (good/best) campaigns end up being like interactive movies.

No need to buy just to try as there are some good ones available for free on the Downloads page.

E.g., if you have Hornet, Sim Sedlo’s Bold Cheetah is definitely payware grade.

There are good & free campaigns for probably every aircraft available, and tho the overall quality varies all over the place, of course, there are a few gems out there.

There’s even some free single Missions from payware Campaigns available as a teaser.

p.s.: Don’t get me wrong, I really like MP, but a good campaign (especially the reality-based ones by Reflected & Baltic) is a great way to keep your DCS experience fresh!

  2. Welp, between this and Reflected’s pending Viper campaign for Kola, looks like I might have to finally get proficient in the Viper.

    Good “problems” to have. 🙂

  3. Indeed, Baltic’s campaigns are very well done: highly detailed, accurate, an excellent platform to learn from yet still re-playable. I’ve done the 10 mission A-10C II campaign which has even helped with other modules for procedures and navigation, all good stuff. First day purchase for certain!
