X-Crafts, a third party X-Plane developer, is celebrating their 10th Anniversary with an announcement of an X-Plane 12 upgrade to their free E-Jets line. The price is certainly right and offer a taste of what their payware fleet of E-Jets is all about. Let’s have a look!
Celebrating 10-years with free update
X-Crafts have what amounts to two airliner line-ups for the X-Plane series. The previously available as payware E-Jets series became free a couple of years ago but only to X-Plane 11 flyers while their payware line, featuring enhanced avionics and revamped interior and exterior, pushed forward with support for both X-Plane 11 and 12. Now, a version 3.0 update for their free line-up brings their slightly older product line to X-Plane 12.
What’s the difference? The payware versions feature a more extensively refined exterior and interior, more advanced avionics such as a custom FMS, improved sounds and visual materials, VNAV and continuous updates as X-Craft’s continue to develop the newer product. The freeware version is an older edition of the aircraft, however, in updating it for X-Plane 12 they’ve done a fair bit of work to make those older versions pretty appealing too. There is no VNAV and there’s an X-Plane default FMS rather than a custom one but on the other hand…it’s free!
