The long in development Aerosoft A330 has a few news updates coming from the company in recent days. A short video showcase visually reminds us of the different engine variations coming for the airplane. There was also initially a leak and then an official release of the Aerosoft A330 manual. Let’s have a look at that too.

Manual release

An interactive manual available online is now ready for us to view. Reportedly the manual leaked to the public and some began sharing the URL around and Aerosoft have since decided to make it available even with some sections not entirely ready for release.

The manual may not be finished but there is quite a bit of information in there already. There are detailed sections on the flight deck, details on how to operate the MCDU, details on the EFB, flight planning and more. I do like some of the extras in the EFB which include a graphical pushback feature that lets you see where they will push your aircraft back to and make decisions on where it goes. A nice bonus.

Engine and other updates

A short video on Aerosoft’s Facebook page (and nowhere else unfortunately) has a 24 second showcase on different engine variants that the company are working on for the aircraft.

Originally, Aerosoft had intended only a single engine variant, however, that plan changed and the company has decided to offer both GE and Rolls Royce engine variants of the A330ceo and then they also plan to offer an A330neo variant with the Rolls-Royce Trent 7000.

The company report that their exterior and interior work on the A330neo variant is continuing while liveries are being added to the other two versions.

Though the A330 has been in development for a long time and recent updates do appear to show considerable progress, we don’t yet have any sort of release window for the project and its unclear now if they will offer the product for both MSFS2020 and 2024 or just the later product. They have said in their FAQ that the 2024 version will be supported without any additional cost but we’ll have to see how timing ultimately works out.

Stay tuned for more!
