We’ve got some Microsoft Flight Simulator news with some discussion about the delayed 707, a reveal of the the new UK and Ireland World Update which revisits the area after the old update and then we also have a few more teases of some future content. Let’s have a look!
Q&A for July
We’ve got a new Q&A from the Microsoft Flight Simulator team. The Q&A included the same four presenters that we usually see with with Jorg Neumann, Sebastian Wloch, Martial Bossard and community manager Jayne.
One of the key items addressed was the delay to the Aeroplane Heaven 707 which Jorg reported that they felt that it wasn’t quite ready to go. He also knows that there’s quite of a bit of excitement around it.
The situation was that we looked at the 707 and I think the expectations are both really high and then the plane just wasn’t quite ready and we needed to give the developer more time.

A fun fact that they shared was around the Aeroplane Heaven C-47 release. Over $80,000 were donated to the USO as a result of the D-Day themed C-47 and CG-4 glider launch.

Meanwhile we’ve learned that the next World Update will be covering the UK and Ireland with significantly better elevation and imagery than the last time they visited the area. The resolution has gone up quite a bit, especially in Ireland and Scotland but also in Wales.

Gaya have once again done the points of interest. There also looks to be a ton of points of interest covering quite a bit more of Ireland than the last time and adding points of interest all over England, Wales, Scotland and even the Isle of Man. There’s also plenty of new TIN photogrammerty
There’s a couple of new airports in the mix including EICK Cork, EGFF Cardiff, EGSS Stansted, and EGLF Farnborough which was not made by Gaya but rather by iniBuilds. Farnborough will have a date specific configuration for the airshow there which sounds really cool!

They were also hoping to reveal the next Local Legend today, however, it’s still caught up in some licensing issues so they are holding off. The aircraft is a helicopter so that gives us a little hint!
There’s a Top Gun: Maverick update too. It was extended from May to the end of July. The marketing team at Paramount have said yes to extending it for a few more years. It also won’t be deleted for anyone who already has it but you won’t be able to download it anymore – if the extension doesn’t go through, that will happen after July 25th.
There are some ATR updates coming too! The company reached out about the ATR 42-600 STOL version so there’s a new version coming for that. There’s also new Highline interiors coming as well. Meanwhile, Hans and team have been working on codefixes and new art is coming soon too. They anticipate it will come in September.
Another highly anticipated world update is also making some progress. Quite a few have been hoping for an update for Brazil and world from Jorg is that they’ve finally gotten what they needed and they are now working to make it a future update.
Lots of things happening for MSFS 2020 while we wait for more news on 2024. Speaking of which, today we’ve learned that quite a bit more information will be coming in September so look for that as we move towards the launch of the new sim!
