A bunch of news coming out from Black Square in the last couple of days with a brand new video focused on the Beechcraft Starship that they are modeling for Microsoft Flight Simulator. There’s also new updates for the TBM 850 and Velocity XL both of which have seen changes and fixes. Let’s check it all out!

Starship update

Black Square’s next project is the Beechcraft Starship, a unique aircraft design first introduced in 1986 and serving as a kind of testbed for modern avionics technologies that would come to other aircraft later. There’s also the design with the pusher propeller design. It’s like few others!

The news we have from Black Square and their publisher, Just Flight, is twofold. First, there is now a product page for the aircraft which probably means that the Beechcraft is now moving into its final development stage. There is no pricing yet and the detailed description is still in progress but it is encouraging news for those waiting on the Starship!

The second piece? New screenshots aplenty and an introductory cinematic which shows off the aircraft beautifully. First, the screenshots.

And then we have this beautiful video. Can’t wait to see more from Just Flight and Black Square!

The VSI is integrated in the altimeter. Fancy!

  2. Off topic, but have you noticed the stutters in the last few days? Was still there this morning. Makes it almost unflyable and it was mentioned on the forums at Avsim so it’s not just me.

No actually. I did some multiplayer flights in MSFS over the last few days and it was working great. C-160 through the mountains in Colorado. Terrific!

What seems to be happening? Is there a possible source for it?

      1. Seems to be much better now. I thought it was just me after DL the world update XVIII, but others had wicked stutters as well for 24 or 36 hours. Seemed unrelated to drivers or updates. Even landing in Saskatchewan was a killer. Maybe just a burp in the system. Glad it’s better now.

That said, I’m taking a big hit over Frankfurt city after the update. Probably need to play with my settings. But my rig is decent, it should run well enough once it’s tuned in.

The TIN/photogrammetry is a big RAM and VRAM suck. Looks amazing but performance is a mixed bag. Frankfurt is an issue for me as well!

  3. This will be my first Black Square bird.

Given that I love funky birds like this and that it’s a passion project of a highly regarded dev, it’s a no brainer purchase.

Yeah there’s tons of appeal for this. I always liked the Starship!
