A new map is coming up soon for DCS World with DCS: Iraq aiming to release sometime before the end of the year. A pre-order is available and, as with DCS: Afghanistan, its available in a complete package or in discrete parts depending on your preference and pricing range. Reflected Simulations has also shared news about a new Red Flag campaign coming to DCS and Goldwolf has just released the latest version of the DCS Beginners Guide. Let’s have a look!
Iraq pre-order

Another of DCS World’s previously announced maps is moving into pre-order status with official launch planned for sometime “soon.” Following the pattern established with Afghanistan, DCS: Iraq is coming in a multi-part release with core features and zones available on launch and additional zones and features coming post launch.
DCS: Iraq will have a complete package, a DCS: North Iraq version and a DCS: South Iraq version. North Iraq is coming as part of early access with areas modeled including Baghdad, Kirkuk, and Sulaymaniyah. Air bases will include Al Asad, Balad, and Baghdad International.
DCS: South Iraq is slated for release in 2025 adding Basrah, Najaf, Amarah, Nasiriyah, and the Shatt al-Arab waterways. It will also cover Kuwait, Bahrain, and much of Saudi Arabia.
Purchasing only the North or South versions will still grant you access to the entire map but some zones will be displayed in a lower detail level.
Eagle Dynamics reports the map is currently undergoing performance optimization, multiplayer testing, and a community feedback process. The goal is a smooth Day 1 launch.
The pre-purchase price of the map will be $48.99 USD with a $69.99 USD regular price on launch. The e-Shop page for DCS: Iraq has opened up on the Eagle Dynamics DCS World website.
Red Flag 81-2 Campaign for the DCS F-4E Phantom
Reflected Simulations has announced the next campaign project for DCS World is “Red Flag 81-2” for DCS: F-4E Phantom. As with prior releases, this campaign will come packaged with period correct maps, charts, dynamic debrief, interactive checklists, hand signals, formation signals, and study level realism on display in other Reflected Simulations campaigns.
The campaign is slated to be 13 missions long and will feature a variety of aircraft operating together in this Red Flag scenario based on real world information and notes. Reflected has made sure to include most of the squadrons (with appropriate liveries) that took part using a few stand-ins (F-15Cs instead of F-15As and Tornadoes instead of Jaguars) where necessary.
DCS Beginner Guide

If you’re just getting into DCS World or need a quick refresher, a new guide is available from Goldwolf, a community member who has spent the last couple of years writing and refining this guide. The latest edition of the guide has reached version 3 and it aims to be an all encompassing guide covering modules, hardware configuration, software configuration and even server suggestions.
Goldwolf shared the guide in several locations including in this community post on the r/Hoggit group. The guide itself can be downloaded on the DCS World User Files database.
