One of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020’s premier airliners, the Fenix Simulations A320ceo series (including the A319 and A321) have been upgraded for use with the new sim. This is a rapid turnaround for the developer though it does come with a few caveats. Let’s have a look!
Fenix updates
A new developer update on the Fenix Simulations website indicates that all owners of the Fenix A320 series have been freely updated to support MSFS 2024. And they report that its not purely a compatibility update but that the product itself has been repackaged in the 2024 format. That’s pretty impressive in turnaround especially when some of their competitors have been talking about lengthier updates
The aircraft doesn’t yet feature the enhanced walk-around mode, lighting is too dim at the moment, you need to press Ctrl C to enter the cockpit at this stage (clickable spots will come later), and the developer reports that their support team are not yet offering official tech support for 2024 saying that 2024 operation is currently experimental. Here’s more of what they had to say:
We consider MSFS 2024 support entirely experimental at this stage and DO NOT consider 2024 compatibility an “advertised” feature, and as such we have not updated our store etc to reflect – this is down to the fact that we do not yet feel confident in the stability of the new simulator/platform, and do not want to begin taking customers’ money on this basis while being unable to guarantee a smooth experience. As a result, please be advised we will not be considering refund requests on the basis of MSFS 2024 experiences/issues – additionally, we will not be accepting customer support tickets in the 2024 environment at this time. We’ve created a community forum area for 2024 so folks can discuss things amongst themselves and we can have some sort of visibility into how things are going, though.
The developer has also, in the most recent update, offered a series of additional fixes and improvements to the product. 4X sim rate is now supported, there are fixes to the fly by wire system, to fuel flow calculations, improved wingflex, support for the MSFS 2024 windshield wipers, as well as various other fixes.
