Dev Blog 18 is here and its focused on one of the stars of the IL-2 Korea show. The F-86 Sabre is a legendary aircraft that faced off against the very similar MiG-15 in the skies over Korea and today the 1CGS team is focused on the Sabre for their next aircraft feature.

The Sabre takes the spotlight

The latest aircraft spotlight is aimed firmly at the F-86A Sabre which is going to be a key aircraft in the IL-2 Korea collection. It, and the MiG-15bis, are similarly matched with the dev blog pointing out the F-86’s better horizontal maneuverability versus the MiG-15bis’ superior climb rate.

They mention too that the F-86A was selected due to its use during the heaviest fighting in 1951. The improved F-86E and F are mentioned but not confirmed on if they may appear post release.

The F-86A will come with ample capability from the six M3 .50cal machine guns with a 1200 rpm fire rate (that’s significantly faster than the 750-850 rpm of the M2 models you may be more familiar with in various sims.

The aircraft also has the ability to carry sixteen 5-in rockets or bombs up to 2,000lbs. Definitely an all-rounder!

In addition to the developer update, which you can read right over here, there’s also plenty of screenshots, video and the pre-rendered images above.

    1. feels like they are still quite far away from some of the core elements to make it by mid year 2025 (but who know – we don’t 😊 ). Yes its going to be fun flying WWII style missions with jets (and some props)
