Latest “Brief Room” episode from 1C Game Studios is focused on the aircraft featured in their recent developer update – the F-86A Sabre. The Sabre is one of two aircraft that they consider core to the new IL-2 Korea sim in development. The Sabre participated in highly competitive battles with the MiG-15bis during the war and these two jets are going to be the focus of a lot of aerial battles.

All about the Sabre

This episode is like many other features by the 1CGS team where they talk about the F-86 Sabre’s development, its pros and cons and some of the challenges of the airplane in combat. The Sabre was well matched with the MiG-15bis though both jets had their unique advantages and disadvantages. Among them were the two jets armament options with the Sabre favouring the M3 .50cal while the MiG-15 favoured 23mm and 37mm cannon armament which was more ideal for taking down large bombers.

  1. I will be looking forwards to all of the new collector planes for IL-2 Korea, once the initial game has been released. I’m talking about aircraft like the British Meteor F.8, Sea Fury FB.11, IL-28 ‘Beagle’, and the American F-86E and F, F7F-3N Tigercat, F3D-2 Skynight and F4U-5N, among others.

    1. We’ll have to see how many of these may happen post release but I do hope we’ll see some.

    2. reading todays news they basicly confirm missing airplanes as F-84E, F9F2 and LA-11, and probably AI only C-47B and Li-2T. From your list i think only F-86 variants are realistic especialy when they keep saying their focus after Korea si Pacifc WW2, they will not have time to spend making less known or used UN airplanes. Still nothing about mission planer i think this is big par we have so low number of user made stuff in GB and it will be same in new game if MP stays same, old IL-2 1946 had user frendly MP and so many options, not just same serious historical type missions, that take long time to make but are not realy interesting to play more then one time at fast speed up.

  2. With the new engine not inheriting a name such as “Great Battles” and decidedly going with the name of the conflict itself I do suspect we will see further expansions into later years of Korea itself. I hope to see the early helicopters and later Sabre variants in later game updates.
