Early in December, X-Plane developer Aerobask announced their latest aircraft project is going to be a Diamond DA20. The aircraft comes with some interesting features such as SkyView Touch Avionics, Reality XP 750 support, and more. Let’s have a look!

A new diamond from Aerobask

Aerobask have developed a bunch of Diamond aircraft over the years and its almost no surprise that the team is back at it again with the DA20. While their developer team continue to work away on the complex Falcon 8X project, long in development for X-Plane, they have continued to offer other products too. The DA20 is the latest.

The developer touts some key features such as SkyView Touch Avionics (a nice change from the usual G1000), GNS530 integration with RealityXP 750 and TDS GTN 750 support, FMod sound work by Daniela Rodriguez Careri, and flight model by X-Aerodynamics.

Brief comment on the Falcon

Long time followers of this particular developer will know that the team has been busy making a Falcon 8X business jet for a long time. Concerns over detours away from that project have come up from time to time, however, Aerobask has needed (as a small developer) to ensure that they have new sources of income while they continue to work on their flagship product.

Here’s a brief statement on the Falcon project.

For those who have concerns this may have delayed the Falcon 8X: no it does not. I’ve been working on this project on the little spare time I have, basically sacrificing time otherwise spent on World of Warcraft or Netflix/Disney/Prime 😉, and on the 3D/modelling side @harranssor had plenty of time for delivering outstanding graphics on par with our best models so far. Most of the avionics featured here required little to no work for fitting into the DA20 (therefore the fictional installation of Skyview) and the simplicity of the aircraft allowed us to focus on details despite my time constraint.

Check out this statement and the announcement over on the X-Plane.org Forums.

  1. This looks like an outstanding offering.
Also, count me amongst the readers that felt like you didn’t need to change anything with the old format but now absolutely love the new format!

I don’t need a new Diamond from Aerobask but I feel like I will probably just pick this up because I know it will be good!

So glad you like the new format. I approached it with some trepidation as I know the old one was well liked but I’m very happy with it and even more happy to know that most folks are enjoying it!
