It’s been a while since we’ve had any word from DCS World developer AVIRON. Fortunately the small team behind the project has been working away and we’ve got a new 2025 status update.
Progress on the DCS: Kfir

An heavily modified Mirage V, the Israeli Kfir project brought the Mirage together with a US designed J79 engine and indigenous avionics making it a unique combat aircraft in the history of the Mirage fighter series. The fighter found use with the Israeli Air Force and with the Colombian Aerospace Force and Sri Lanka Air Force. Even the US Navy ended up with a few of them. Many are still flying in active service.
This is the aircraft that AVIRON is currently working on and the above screenshots have just been released today along with a status update indicating that the team is making progress on systems, flight model and art.
In addition to a happy new year message, we also got the following posted on their Discord server:
Systems Department The systems’ components were developed with real physics logic, simulating the behavior of electricity, fluids, and mechanics as they would in real-world scenarios. It’s all about those geeky intricacies for a truly authentic experience. We integrated the plane systems’ primary and backup channels using the aforementioned physicalized components model. Additionally, we have developed specifically tailored testing tools to ensure that each component—and accordingly each system—meets expectations for well-defined behaviors, enhancing reliability.
Flight Model Department We have been implementing a flight model based on actual wind tunnel data and are complementing it with a complex CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) simulation to ensure accuracy. We are excited to announce that it is currently in the pre-alpha stage and taking shape.
Art Department This year, we refactored our entire cockpit to bring it up to current DCS standards and fully integrated it with DCS. This means everything is clickable and has functionality linked to the system it represents. We don’t want to give away too much, so this is just a taste of what we’ve achieved. We can’t wait to share more information with you when we are ready!
All of this sounds encouraging and follows a familiar format for most DCS World developers getting started. Getting their tools together, working on the different components of the aircraft, and slowly bringing things together.
AVIRON are regularly interacting with people on their Discord server and the team have started up an Instagram account to share their progress as well.
