1C Game Studios “Brief Room” is back for 2025 and in this new episode they are talking about four aircraft that are coming to the sim as AI aircraft that will help fill out the larger aircraft roles. Let’s have a look!

The big birds

The new 29-minute long Brief Room episode is focused on the C-47B, B-29, Li-2, and Tu-2S.

The first part of the episode is focused on the histories of the C-47 and Li-2. The two are, of course, closely related aircraft with the Li-2 being developed from the civilian DC-3 that the C-47 was also modified from. The team have confirmed that its a C-47B that we’re getting and that both are, at least for now, not flyable in the sim but will be part of the AI aircraft set.

The Tu-2 gets a history overview as well with its development and use during WWII and then use again during the Korean War. Finally, they shift gears and talk about the B-29 which probably needs little introduction as one of the most significant strategic bombers of the time period.

Mixed into the historical photos and discussion were a few video clips of the four aircraft. Three which I’ve captured here. I expect we’ll see some individual clips get released within the next few days.

Check out the video above and stay tuned for more.

  1. Sadly, I will not be getting this mainly because of the drone thing. Why even make a drone game when your government currently uses drones to kill innocent civilians in a completely unneeded war?! Also, if the devs are so disappointed that they didn’t do the Pacific in GBs then why are they doing Korea first instead of like Guadalcanal? The Korean War was North Korea invading its neighbour with the assistance of China and the USSR (Russia), and now Russia is invading its neighbour with the assistance of North Korea who just recently sent them 138 ballistic missiles.

This along with them scapegoating Jason for why things didn’t happen is the final straw for me. Examples include Sicily didn’t happen because Jason wanted Rome and Naples to be depicted which would make the map too urban, okay so why not rescale the map to avoid those areas? Jason preferred the more realistic way for Drop Tanks opposed to a simpler way of making it like a bomb, okay so why haven’t the devs done the simpler way?

Them doing Korea wasn’t a huge surprise as it was something that came up back in 2013 when they were talking about things they wanted to do.

The rest hasn’t been a particularly good look, has it? Totally understand wanting to avoid a purchase.

  2. Second this. Not only that, but further coverage of this sim by shamrock would make him complicit by providing awareness and advertising to a product that is financing the killing of innocents. Another post about this sim and I’m ditching this blog.

If you think news reporting is the same thing as advertising, that and your readership is entirely your prerogative.

      1. I don’t think it’s the same thing, but publicizing and spreading information on a product inadvertently brings awareness to it’s existence and hence increases the chance of someone spending money on said product. Trusted, seemingly harmless sources of media online have an influence over their followers. In fact, it’s why they’re called “influencers”, and if those sources “report” on a product as if it doesn’t have anything wrong with it, it creates that illusion to the readers who trust said media. It’s not rocket science, but if you think having a blog is the same thing as being a news reporter, that, and your moral values are your prerogative. Were you actually interested in “news reporting” on what’s going, you would have brought attention to the drone incident, and the software that causes harm to so many innocents.

You are treating your assumptions as fact. We have no evidence of the drone being used for training, that is speculation.

    2. Will you also stop playing DCS: Iraq or Afghanistan? Or perhaps stop playing sims all together? Do you play STALKER by any chance? Their devs take pride in purchasing vehicles, drones, and actual weapons for the Ukrainian military, yes to kill people.

I guess I forgot it’s ok, when you’re playing for the “good guys”, right?

Some people have a real self-righteous chip on their shoulder. Don’t need to announce your departure, this isn’t an airport.

      1. I stopped purchasing anything made by Eagle Dynamics on February 24th, 2022. Other sims don’t pay tax to the aggressors. Damn right I play STALKER. I even bought copies for my friends, right after I donated to UA directly. There’s a very, VERY clear difference between a nation fighting for their existence and a nation fighting to annex chunks of a foreign country and erase their inhabitants’ culture. The Ukrainian military kills people, and this is a very important distinction, that have entered their land with tanks, without permission. It kills people that have been caught, very irrefutably, destabilizing their government before the conflict started. Now I don’t know about you, but if someone enters my house with the intent of living there, causing me harm, and then redecorating – I’m not going to be very welcoming.

Yes. Yes, Dima, I’m absolutely ok with playing for “the good guys”. There’s a reason why all the neighboring countries are enacting sanctions and restrictions, Dima, and it’s not prejudice, but historical.

    3. You have a right to protest a product by not purchasing. The rest of us have a right to learn what sims are being produced so we can make our choice, too.

Silencing the sharing of information entirely is counterproductive.

  3. While it is disturbing that a company like this is, or were considering something with drone training; I’ll go to the opposite opinion of the others and say that I don’t really mind if they support their own country in war. Not every war (really none) is a plain “good versus evil.” Relations degrade, interests evolve, misunderstandings are had, and then there’s war. It’s a horrible thing, but that’s just reality. You can have your opinions, but so can they.

And to be honest, a lot of people in the west would have a hard time swallowing many truths about our own governments, but that’s another discussion.

If you personally don’t want to cover them anymore then that’s fine, but I wouldn’t let others push you into it.

Thanks for the comment Bob. If I decide on an editorial decision it will certainly be of my own making. Reporting what’s going on around flight sims does mean treading into some challenging waters sometimes. It was easy when times were easy but right now things are tense and emotions flare. It’s the times we live in unfortunately.

  4. Unfortunately it seems literally EVERYTHING is tied to a political connection. Literally everything – companies feel the need to enter the political arena and tout their CEO’s personal opinions, sports used to be about sports but now can’t seem to stick to playing and talking about sports but instead feels the need to jump into the cesspool of politics when people used to watch sports to escape reality, news has ALWAYS been expressed as politically skewed depending on which side of the isle you sit, transportation industries have gone political particularly air travel, actors and actresses always seem to think their views matter more than others when it comes to the political clown acts and now we have gaming added to the list in recent years. I’m not taking sides but simply stating – I’m sick of the whole thing.

It’s true, and I’d argue that’s always been the case, however, things are tense right now so it does feel like difficult discussions creep into everywhere. Even our entertainment focused flight sims are not immune to or disconnected from some difficult reality.

      1. my apologies, Shamrock, I agree we need to keep politics out of it as much as possible.

there is a reason we like this hobby, and part of it is to escape from the injustices and stress of the real world.

very much dislike when people drag their own views and prejudice into it. If you don’t want to buy X, because you don’t like the country it’s from, that’s on you. But you shouldn’t force anyone else to do the same.

      3. Yes, let’s turn a blind eye to the absolute unspeakable horrors that are happening so we can pretend to fly a plane, because even the idea of refraining from doing so in the name of a peaceful existence for hundreds of thousands is an inconvenience.

I know that being some distance away from a conflict like this can create a disconnect, but come on, man… Imagine I sold a game that not-so-indirectly caused you, your friends and family real, physical harm. Let’s say that for every copy of the game I’ve sold, I’d buy a bullet that was shot in your general direction by someone else. You’d want me to stop bringing attention to this game so people would stop buying it, wouldn’t you?

The funny thing is, I did the (very rough) math for this once. I looked at ED’s employees, their average salaries, the taxes they pay in their respective countries, the taxes the company pays, the profits it makes from module sales as well as their VVS contracts, the cut a third-party dev takes etc. etc… it really did come very close to one 9mm round per module sold per employee.

    2. Agreed, hence my post. I do my gaming to try to escape this crapola and as Shamrock says it seems as though it’s crept into every aspect of one’s life in one form or another especially in the past several years. Nice to see the “heavy iron” in the new Korean theater. Now let’s make them flyable hint, hint. I’m still hoping for the B-25 to be that way though I know it’s a total pipe dream. Cheers!

    2. I hope so. Stalingrad, Moscow, Kuban, Bodenplatte and Normandy were very good in my opinion and I think they were too big of battles and/or too important in significance to contributing to turning tide of the war to be left out of the new series.

Speaking of development decisions, and without downplaying the awfulness of what it was like in reality, what I have never understood is why there is not more of a focus on the Pacific theatre from a combat flight sim perspective. Large potential customers pools in North America, Australasia, and North and Southeast Asia that are raised with the epic WW2 Pacific struggle as part of their cultural heritage every bit as potent as the European theatre was for European and UK peoples. Iconic battles like Pearl Harbor, Coral Sea, Midway, Guadalcanal, fantastic planes, iconic locations…I mean what’s not to like? I would have thought a well done sim, carefully calibrated and appealing to this cultural memory in those customer bases, would be able to tap in to a rich (literally) vein of support. Yet, with the very notable and welcomed arrival of Jason and his team, it seems a largely deserted space or populated with ad hoc, spin off mods or half hearted extensions, and has been for decades. And I do not count DCS’s recent, maybe, perhaps, drip slow and lukewarm dipping of a little toe into the theatre. This I do not quite understand.

You’re not alone in wondering that. After Pacific Fighters, we’ve seen almost nothing in that area for such a long time. It’s certainly compelling. 1CGS says they are doing that after Korea but it almost seems reflexive after Jason’s team managed to pick up quite a bit of attention when they announced Combat Pilot and everyone said “finally!”

    2. I think that it’s a consequence of Western companies mostly abandoning flight simming for a time. There is a reason why the remaining companies, 1CGS and ED, are both Russian, just like how VKB, Virpil and VPForce are from Eastern Europe.

I don’t think that they Pacific interests them all that much in Eastern Europe.

But now that MSFS has reignited flight simming in the West, there is a lot of money in that market, which companies are now going for.

    3. Fingers crossed that the initial Korea package sells well enough to ensure continuing with carrier ops, and Commonwealth aircraft! It’s great to see arenas such as this and the Pacific being addressed again after 20-25 year gaps.

And, your choice of course, but don’t feel shy to delete political and disruptive commenting. The internet has given every clown a megaphone, and it doesn’t take many to damage discourse.

Yea, indeed: about time. I hope Jason’s effort is a massive success. While not strictly a flight sim, there is also Admiral’s Pacific operational level carrier simulation on the horizon. Mind you, it seems like it’s been cooking for ages, but it’s making progress. I for one am hoping theses are commercial successes and encourage others to try their luck. We’ll see I guess.
