Evolving their design from the original VPC ACE Rudder Pedal series, VIRPIL today has announced the next generation of their rudder pedal offering. R1-Falcon comes with some interesting updates to their design so let’s take a look!

Significant update

Teased at FSExpo and now fully revealed, VIRPIL have just announced the R1-Falcon Rudder Pedals. The overall design is similar to their previous ACE Rudder Pedals but they do come with some notable enhancements.

A new dual-bar design, new foot pedal design, and new floorplate are aimed at preventing slippage and tipping. It now also features a single symmetrical cam which can be swapped (quickly they say) for alternative flight styles. An infinitely adjustable centering spring can be changed via a twist dial. There’s also an in/out USB setup allowing for daisy chained VIRPIL devices.

VIRPIL will be offering the new pedals for €299.95 starting next week. An optional damper upgrade is also available for an additional €39.95.

For those still waiting for their ACE Pedals

There are still some people waiting for their ACE Rudder Pedals and VIRPIL are offering up a couple of options. You can continue with the backorder or switch to the new R1-Falcon and get your order in the first batch.

Seems reasonable!

More info coming soon

VIRPIL have just made the announcement via Facebook and on their official forums.

The product isn’t yet on their hardware listing but I expect it will be once the pre-order begins.

  1. These look great! So many early sim rudder pedals were designed like something you rested your feet on and slid back and forth – not like real rudder pedals at all.

I’m pretty happy with my Thrustmaster TPRs, but if I didn’t have them I would be taking a hard look at these. They are smaller, cheaper, and quite likely even slightly better than the Thrustmaster ones.

    1. There are planes that have pedals that you rest your feet on, like Airbus, German WW 2, etc.
