  1. How nice of them to offer us Moscow for free. Unfortunately I feel that there aren’t enough aircraft available for Battle of Moscow Career and AQMB. A short list of aircraft I would really like to see for it are the Hs-123 A-1, Ju-87 B-2, DB-3, Pe-3Bis, and the SB-2. Don’t get me wrong though as I am happy with what we’ve got, and I am ecstatic that new heap of planes like the Bf-109 E-4, I-153, LaGG-3 Series 4, Yak-1 Series 23 are coming to Great Battles as it would enhance the game play by adding a more diverse set of planes.

It’s a pretty diverse group considering what they were able to do at the time. Hurricane II in the mix plus the three others coming that you’ve cited is a decent collection.

      1. You’re right. It is a good collection of planes. I just wish there were more bombers though, though I do appreciate the fact that longer aircraft take longer to build, and I know if they were ever to do more large planes for Great Battles that would be a waste of man power because in all honesty they do have to move on. I just wish we could see more CAS, heavy fighters and medium bombers in the game. But I understand it’s not going to happen. And that’s ok.

  2. Battle of Moscow for free, not bad at all.

And because your loyal readers are the very best and worst of the flightsim crowd, your first sentence has an error. ” . . . an special . . . “

  3. The discount on Flying Circus Volume IV is huge compared to the previous sale, where it was only 25% off. The Ta 152 plane was 50% off for the last sale, and 80% is thus a lot more.

The Gestapo Hunters campaign was 25% off during the last sale, so it is also a much bigger discount now.

The Iron Wind campaign is so new that it hasn’t even seen a regular sale yet, so 80% off is an incredible deal.

All other content has seen 75% discounts, so it isn’t a big extra discount, but it is still the biggest discount for that content.

I believe you’re right. We’ve seen deep discounts but not quite at the breadth on offer.

      1. Both the size of the discount and the fact that even the newest modules are discounted, is a first.

  5. VE Day, celebrating the victory of democracies over genocidal totalitarian states invading their neighbours and killing tens of thousands of civilians and soldiers (their own and foe) to no end and no gain.

    BoM is on offer.

    Huh.

It’s a complicated history of course. One that is continually reevaluated to be sure.

We’ll try and keep it focused on the simming side. It’s a bit harder than back a few years ago of course.

    2. VE Day, celebrating the victory of democracies over genocidal totalitarian states invading their neighbours

In the European theater, most of the fighting was between two totalitarian states.

to no end and no gain.

This is also not true. Both Germany and Japan (and the USSR & the UK & France) were motivated by the belief that in a colonialist environment with relatively little international trade, only countries with significant access to resources within their own control, could survive. The goal of both countries was thus to conquer land with those resources, and they thus had an ‘end’.

Hitler severely miscalculated how far he could go with regard to conquering smaller nations, and he triggered WW2 ahead of schedule and at a point before the planners considered Germany to be ready for a large war. Japan’s entrance into war with the US was deliberate and thus dumber.

The fairly quick transition of the West to a post-colonial world order based on free trade, probably hastened quite a bit by WW2, was not something that was obvious at the time. It’s not really fair to judge the decisions of the time with knowledge that people back then didn’t have.
