The folks at iniBuilds are working towards an Xbox supported release for their A350 airliner. The project on PC has been through several rounds of updates and their efforts to bring it to console is clearly progressing but it was not meant to release just yet. It has, unexpectedly, appeared on the Marketplace today.

A bit of a mistaken launch

Some sort of mistake has been made over in the MSFS 2024 Marketplace as iniBuilds A350 has just released there in error. The project is currently being developed for a Marketplace launch with support for Xbox users, however, something happened earlier today and the aircraft launched unexpectedly.

A representative from iniBuilds, Steve, on the company’s Discord server wrote the following message:

We have received reports that the A350 has become available for purchase in the 2024 Microsoft Marketplace. This is an error from the Microsoft Marketplace side as we have not yet signed off on this product. We are still in active discussion with them and once we feel the standard we expect is set, we will inform them. In the meantime, we STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST purchasing the A350 for Xbox as its still in active testing before moving to public release. We profusely apologize to our Xbox customers who have already purchased and recommend you to reach out directly to the Marketplace support channels to receive a refund. We know many have been waiting patiently and we hope to announce the official release soon.

While iniBuilds is offering up an apology, its likely some sort of error on the Marketplace side of things that caused the unexpected release.

From early comments from Xbox users who did buy it, it sounds like the aircraft was not fully functional and that cockpit controls and other features weren’t functioning as expected. Understandable with what should have been an unreleased product.

If you saw it in the Marketplace and were thinking about a purchase, hold off and wait until the official launch is the best advise any of us can give. Hopefully there will be some sort of refund or reserve ability for those who did buy it not expecting an unreleased build.

  1. FS2024 has been a bit of a comedy of errors it seems. I haven’t bought the sim yet and have no plans to. The only thing that might interest me is radically improved ground textures, if they happen. Other than that, I’ll stay with FS2020.

I feel like maybe if it had been delayed to fall of 2025 and had more time to mature it would have landed better than it did. There’s a lot to like about 2024 but its extraordinarily uneven in what is good and what is not (yet). I’m writing an editorial on that to come soon… but I’m still gathering my thoughts.

If you’re happy with 2020, stick with it for a while more. Eventually 2024 is going to be a good one I still hope.

  2. Looking forward to reading that editorial when you publish it. I have also not yet bought 2024 (to my own amazement) and now I feel that my interest is fading. It is harder to find the time in the northern hemisphere summer and I am quite happy with using X-Plane 12 for the times that I do get to spend some time simming. I need the sim to work as expected and that is one area where XP shines.

You might be waiting for the editorial/review that comes after that one 🙂 Unless SU2 drops ahead of when I think it will.

I am going to write a more definitive review of 2024 but I’m kind of waiting to see if it comes together more definitively when SU2 transitions from beta to release.

      1. That makes sense. SU2 will hopefully bring us a release that is more in line with our initial expectations.
At any rate, your editorials are always eagerly anticipated!
