Announced earlier today, Just Flight have revealed that they are bringing their BAe 146 up to X-Plane 12 standards in partnership with Thranda Design. This marks the first airliner project that Just Flight have brought forward with prior efforts working through their catalogue of general aviation aircraft. Here’s what we know!

Coming to 12!

Eight variants, 44 liveries, custom-coded systems, 4K PBR textures are among the features that Just Flight are touting for their X-Plane 12 rendition of the BAe 146 airliner. Developed in partnership with Thranda Design, Just Flight’s extensive experience and research on the jet for both X-Plane 11 and MSFS variants surely helped in bringing this project forward into the new sim.

Custom hydraulic, electrical, fuel, pressurization and navigation systems are all programmed in. That includes a custom UFMC with VNAV capability. The aircraft will also support the default X-Plane FMC and it will have compatibility with Reality XP GTN750 too.

The project is listed as coming soon.

  1. Glad to hear Just Flight is still putting stuff out for X-Plane! Now if they can just bring the Duchess over to MSFS!

I think that might be a Thranda plane though. Not sure if any of their stuff ever got ported the other way to Microsoft.

The PA28s I think were initially X-Plane 11 weren’t they? For some of these there are iterations going back to the days of FSX and so forth so it maybe a chicken and egg thing.

Count me as surprised about the 146. I didn’t think they would do that… but maybe the GA experiences have ended up going well. I’ve been meaning to pick one up and review it.

      1. I have the Warrior for MSFS. Reminds me very much of the ones I used to instruct in.

Ahh great! Classic airplanes aren’t they.

I bought the Turbo Arrow III/IV pack from the Marketplace back when they came out. I’m still waiting on the 2024 Marketplace update for them but hopefully soon because I want to get back to flying them and I have a trip through the Alps that looks fun.

  3. This is very encouraging! NoJoe had previously said that the XP sales didn’t justify the expense of bringing the 146 over. That got a fair bit of feedback on the org forums with many users wishing they would do it. Apparently the sales of the Thranda PC-12 went very well and perhaps with the ongoing struggles of MSFS2024, and the subsequent increase in users jumping to XP, they decided to take the gamble and bring the 146 up to XP12. I very much hope it works out for them and they see positive sales results. I will be counted amongst the supporters for the 146. I have wanted to see it in XP12 for a long time now. Very cool to see this!

  4. Good for Just Flight. I think it’s good that they are branching out into other flight sims rather than just sticking with the MSFS 2020/2024 platform. Would you buy it to see how it performs in X-Plane and be able to compare it to how it goes in MSFS?

Just Flight have done quite a bit with X-Plane in the past so its more a return to form with a significant update for the 146 Professional moving from XP11 to 12. They and Thranda have done quite a few of their GA aircraft as well.

It’s definitely encouraging particularly as there were feelings that it wasn’t worth the time and money bringing the aircraft to XP12 standard. Obviously the calculation has changed which is good for X-Plane.

      1. They must see a good investment return in doing the aircraft for X-Plane 12. But then again I could be wrong, and rather the are doing it out passion for making hyper realistic aircraft.
