Updates to a half dozen modules, core updates and the release of the new Quick Action Generator (QAG) to replace the old mission generator stand-out in the latest DCS World update. There are also fixes to the recently released Data Transfer Cartridge (DTC). Let’s have a look!

Creating quick missions and more

Eagle Dynamics report that the QAG is the successor to the old Create Fast Mission system and is reportedly more streamlined and efficient for setting up instant action missions across various eras, mission types and locations without the need to get into the mission editor. If you do happen to like the mission it generates, you can also save and edit it in the mission builder.

A FAQ on the new feature is available here to indicate how the system works.

Several dozen fixes are also now available for the DTC which includes fixing a crash when the F/A-18 CMDS is set to AUTO after using custom threat tables.

Other fixes are available for the DCS: F/A-18C, F-16C, AH-64D, CH-47F (which finally adds the long teased liveries), F-5E, F-4E, F-14, AJS-37, JF-17, Mirage F1, C-101, Cold War Germany map, and several campaigns.

The full list for DCS 2.9.16.10523 is part of the change log available here!

  1. What about fixing AI-enemies behavior during dogfights? Flankers and Fulcrums still tend to enter a circle with enormous speed and constant G-load between 8 and 9. Before AI update couple of years ago, planes did crazy defying physics vertical loops, now they do crazy defying physics horizontal circles.

AI fixes are pretty high on my list too. The biggest change may come not from the AI itself but the new general flight model they are working on which should cut down on some of the weirdness.

  2. To me this is a step back from the previous mission generator. It’s lacking a lot of functionality that is required to set up even a quick mission for training. Seems to be the ED philosophy, release a new minimal feature and then maybe finish it someday.

I haven’t had a chance to try it out yet so I have no thoughts on it just yet. I had hoped for something quick and useful to work with.

What do you think they could add that might help boost it up a bit?

      1. The choice to start from the ground and missions not just abruptly ending would be a good start. I hope they also expand mission set as well.
