There are some features on simulated aircraft that are just … cool! Black Square has released the first in a series of videos aimed at detailing some of the features and capabilities that they are putting into their simulation of a Beechcraft Starship. This first video gives us some great insights into the upcoming module. Let’s check it out!

Starship features

Black Square developer Nick Cyganski has released a new video focused on the airframe and aerodynamics of the Starship. This video follows on the heels of a developer update that came out last week talking about the development process (as well as efforts to bring several projects over to MSFS 2024).

Some of the features are what you’d expect from a developer doing the Starship. Variable geometry canards are part of the aircraft’s systems. So too is the stick shaker and pusher system to move the aircraft out of a stall though, as Nick describes, its an airplane that’s notoriously difficult to stall. The aircraft also comes with what is now a hallmark feature of a visualizer system which, among other things, shows off brake temperature.

Then there’s the cool stuff. Starship will have simulated electrostatic discharge and corona discharge (some of you may know it as St. Elmo’s Fire) when flying near a thunderstorm. That is neat!

The aircraft is reportedly nearing the end of its development cycle. The teaser trailer tells us that its coming in June of this year. According to the recent developer update we also now know that it is planned for both 2020 and 2024 release.

Stay tuned for more news on this fascinating airplane!
