A couple of small updates coming to the DCS World community recently from Grinnelli Designs with some tidbits of progress on their DCS: F-100D Super Sabre module in development. Let’s check them out!
RWR and guncam footage
Two posts recently added to the r/Hoggit group on Reddit are giving us a small insight into what Grinnelli Designs is doing with their DCS: F-100D right now.
The first is a look at the RHAW (Radar Homing and Warning System), a precursor to more familiar modern RWR systems. One comment under the same post tells us that the length indicates received power while the azimuth naturally gives us a direction – though not corrected for attitude. The dotted lines are track while scan radars while the steady ones are tracking radar. Fascinating stuff!
We’ve also got something that’s a little more conventional with a gyro stabilized gunsight and guncamera setup (with added film grain for effect) of a test gun with the aircraft’s guns. You can see the MiG easily dispatched by the four 20mm cannons.
These aren’t a big status update but I thought both were interesting enough to share.
Other updates
Meanwhile over on the Grinelli Designs website the latest update to the project tracker, made just a few days ago on June 4, 2025 and they are showing some good progress. Their tracker has art now at 68% and code moving ahead at 88% with an overall progress of 78% progress.
Now, its awfully hard to track the timeline on a complex project like a DCS module. The percentages give us an idea of where they are at but not necessarily what the timeline is. Nonetheless, closing in on 80% completion is great progress for this module. Any guess that I would make at this point would be inaccurate but encouraging to see another Cold War type make moves towards completion and release.
