The last day of FSExpo 2025 is here and in this recap article I cover some of the things that I saw that stood out during the day. I am, as mentioned before, covering the event remotely with the expo’s excellently live streamed and recorded sessions coming out throughout the day.

AviationLads showcase

I love a good video, you love a good video, and AviationLads does cinematic flight sim masterpieces and marketing pieces for a variety of producers. One of the first sessions that I watched today was a showcase of the work by this flight sim video producer.

The videos showcased were recently released products starting with the P-51 Sound Pack by Echo 19. Listen to that engine and the gun door whistle sounds. Impressive.

Check out this marketing trailer for the DFFlyer Pittsburgh City Pack.

There were more videos but you can check out the channel for more.

FlyByWire

One of the sessions today was from freeware airliner developer FlyByWire. The company has of course been popular in the MSFS community thanks to their freeware A32NX project and their alpha A380X project.

The briefing was mostly focused on their history and their development model. They emphasize their freeware nature, the ability for anyone to look at their code, and their rapid development cycle with weekly updates.

There was some interesting data shared such as what the badnwidth was like in the first week of A380X’s release. The group registered approximately 6,650 installs in just the first week of its release.

Bluebird Simulations 757

Bluebird Simulations is on the show floor today showing off the 757-200 and a new trailer, created by Practically Geek, shows off the 757 in a beautiful way.

Tobii Eye Tracking

Another presentation was done by Tobii Eye Tracking. They talked about their Tobii Eye Tracker 5 system touting its resolution and low latency. Also its near IR lighting system that works in darkness and in light (I can attest to that, my office is sunlit in the morning and it works the same as it does at night). They talk about the built in MSFS support as well as its ability to work with X-Plane and support for X-Camera. Interestingly, they said that DCS World is their number one most played. Maybe not too much of a surprise.

They have a 15% discount running right now celebrating the show.

I should mention I did a full review of the Tobii system a few years ago and its still my go-to headtracking/eyetracking solution. Stormbirds is also an affiliate (not something I do all the time) so if you are thinking of buying, do click the link.

Motozolo

This is a company I had not heard of before. The company is from Shanghai China, was founded in 2023, has CNC machining abilities and are partners with ProSim and Airbus. The company’s website is only in Chinese right now but from their presence at the expo I would guess they want to expand into North American and European markets.

The hardware that they have on offer is an Airbus A320 style panel with a miniaturized overhead panel and similarly miniaturized front panel with four displays, the autopilot, gear control, and so forth. A third product they showed us was a throttle system with MCDU bolted onto the side of it. They also showed off an Airbus style side stick. Its all small enough to fit on a desk (maybe just barely) but functionality similar to a simulated Airbus. Neat! The company also is offering a full sized 1:1 style setup and full size full motion professional trainers.

This all emblematic of the interesting intersection in our hobby between real world training and enthusiasts who are interested in sim flying.

Basic Scenery Design

Unlike the others, this wasn’t a company presentation but one scenery building enthusiast (whom I didn’t catch the name of) teaching us all a bit about Basic Scenery Design.

The session went through the process of building some basic scenery for MSFS. Sketchup software was used to make some of the buildings. Photoshop to move photos into textures, Model Converter X to convert the file, and the MSFS SDK to work on the scenery itself.

It sounds really interesting and if I had two or three times as much time as I had right now, I’d probably explore that myself!

Rolling in to the end

We’re coming in to the end of the expo. The new location of the expo is about to be revealed so I’ll be reporting on that shortly!
