Rounding-up a bit of DCS World news this week with a recent update having come out focused on bug fixes and core updates. Eagle Dynamics are reminding us that their big summer sale is nearly over. There are updates from OnReTech about their DCS: Sinai map and recent improvements. Finally, Grinnelli Designs has provided us with a video recap from FSExpo showing on what their booth looked like and what the experience was like at the booth. Let’s have a look!
Core updates and summer sale
One of the update items this week was the core of the sim and some of the recent improvements made to it. These updates were also covered in the recent change log and I’ll list them here for completeness sake.
- SA-11 Buk does not trigger RWR warning for launch or tracking – fixed
- Weapons. AGM-45 all seeker models able to track 052B/054A and HQ7 radar – fixed
- AI aircraft. AI cannot taxi properly at Rovaniemi (Kola map) if AI group has human taxi with them at the same time – fixed
- QAG. Units are placed outside Marianas WWII map bounds – fixed
- QAG. Anti-Ship mission is generated incorrectly on Afghanistan map – fixed
- AI aircraft. AI F4U will not engage shipping with BAT bomb – fixed
All of these came with a DCS World update earlier in the week so you may have already read them. Eagle Dynamics is reminding us about the work put in.
They are also reminding us that the sale will end July 13 at 15:00 GMT on the e-Shop and on the 10th of July at 18:00 GMT on Steam.
Sinai dev progress

OnReTech has implemented several updates for their DCS: Sinai map. The company showed off some of those updates via their Instagram just ahead of the DCS World update that came out recently. It was kind of overshadowed by the DCS: F4U Corsair launch and Marianas WWII but is getting a little more attention this week.
Here are the updates as listed in the recent change log:
- Added medium detail zones: Northern Israel, Lebanon, part of Syria.
- Added terrain textures – color, normal map at new medium detail zones.
- Added airfields: Ramat David, Damascus Intl, Mezzeh Air Base, Rafic Hariri Intl, Tabuk.
- Added unique scenes, including on new airfields, 2 unique hangars at Ramat David airfield.
- Improved Saudi Arabia region.
- Color correction of terrain textures (entire territory).
- New normal map (entire territory).
- Added military bases throughout the terrain, added icons to them in ME.
- Various bug fixes.
The update appears aimed at addressing some of the community’s concerns last year when the scale of the map, particularly in the north eastern part containing Israeli was scaled down causing mission compatibility issues and widespread concern.
Now the map appears to have expanded a little further with some new medium detail zones that aren’t quite as fully detailed as the rest of the map but nonetheless add a fair bit of tactical and strategic flexibility for scenario creators.
In addition to the expansions and airbase additions, the map has seen terrain textures and the details of the map get an overhaul. If you haven’t flown over DCS: Sinai recently, it may be worth having a look!
Grinnelli Designs FSExpo 2025 recap
One of the combat fight sim booths at FSExpo 2025 this year was Grinnelli Designs. I sadly wasn’t able to be there on site and it looks like I missed out on quite a lot because Grinelli’s booth, as shown in this video recap, looks like a blast.
They had the aircraft available to try with a few short scenarios to play through. They also had setup a system where people could get their guncamera footage from the scenario sent to them as a kind of keepsake. That’s a really cool interactive experience!
In addition to all of that, the booth itself had a display case with F-100 artifacts and even a guitar – which they plan to give away at some point. Really interesting video and worth a watch to see what they were up to at the expo.
The team also released a video showing off 42 minutes of captured footage. Check that out!
The team report that they intend to be there next year at FSExpo 2026 in Minneapolis so that is something to look forward to. I can’t wait to see more of what this group have planned for the DCS: F-100!
