Microsoft Flight Simulator has an extensive airliner list available these days and TFDi’s MD-11 has picked up quite a few fans and some critique following its release in July of last year. The team over there have been busy and are working to bring new features and fixes while also moving it into a position where it will work on Xbox and on Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024. Their latest status update tells us how its all going!
Updates and improvements

Following the release last year, TFDi have responded to critique from the community that the model of the airliner was feeling a bit dated and had some outstanding issues. The team appears to have taken that critique and turned it into a significant overhaul of the aircraft’s visuals. The exterior has been re-modeled and re-textured, animations have been fixed, missing parts added, and an overall pass at the details of the airplane has been completed. The cabin has received a similar re-build and includes additional features like rain effects on the windows.
Systems are also being updated. The P&W engines have been updated with a new throttle control system and engine simulation. Overhauled systems have also resulted with smoother and more consistent descents, overhauled step climb, custom oil, vibration and EGT simulation, and various other refinements.
The aircraft has an “extended sim” package which is sold separately. That will now have 160 failure scenarios, routine service options, and an airframe history feature.

Xbox and 2024 support on the way
TFDi report that their current upgrade process is about 90% complete. Once its done, they intend to split the 2020 model into a new 2024 model and do additional work to make it ready for native support of the newer sim.
They anticipate that their MSFS 2020 Xbox release, MSFS 2024 PC release, and MSFS 2024 Xbox release will probably all land around the same time.
The team give an indication that all of this may take a few weeks, however, they have been known (admittedly) to give release information and then miss the mark. Nonetheless, it sounds like TFDi are well on their way to providing a series of significant updates for their airliner project.
