We’ve got a new status update from PMDG and here is a summary of some of the key points that you may want to know about if you’re a fan of the company’s 777, 737 or forthcoming 747 line-up. Let’s check it out!

737NG testing enters new stage

The best news in the update is word that the 737NG line is making progress. PMDG are specifically testing the -800 right now and have officially moved from development to “fitness and testing” according to the status update. A few items remain to be dealt with and they say they are wrapping up loose ends so that MSFS 2024 native supported 737NG can finally be released.

Another feature reveal confirms that the 737NG series will feature an entirely rebuilt sound setup. This has been developed for the 777 series first but will also be then coming to the 737NG upgrade.

Robert S. Randazzo from PMDG reports that the -800 update will come first followed by the -700, -900 and -600 after.

777 sound update and version numbers

We have new information on the 777 sound update. The 777 series are still getting their completely rebuilt sound experience, just like the 737NG, and it will feature better sounds recorded with higher end audio equipment.

We are in the final approval stages for a sound package update that will initially appear in the 777-300ER, 777F and 777-200LR packages. This is a complete rebuild and upgrade to the sound environment in the airplane based upon hundreds of on-site recordings, intricate code work, a metric–ton of audio engineering work and hundreds of hours of adapting, processing and blending to get the sound package to please the ears of our 777-experienced testers and on-site experts.

That all sounds good to me! PMDG’s 777 series already sounds pretty good but I’m very curious to hear the upgrade in action.

Speaking of updates, the latest status report says that the PMDG 777 fleet is up to build 121 on the Marketplace and build 130 on PMDG.com. A new build is being pushed to everyone on all storefronts and sims next week while the -200LR awaits some unspecified Marketplace issue before launch.

747 teases continue

We’ve got another tease of the 747 and, yep, its another landing gear shot. Work is going on here though the majority of the team is focused on the 737NG update right now.

The work in progress shot is missing a lot of detail but they seemingly wanted to share a little something so here it is. The post asks us to guess which model of 747 it is (-100 or -400) but I can tell you right now that the file name suggests its a -100 and Robert reports, lower down in the comments, that the tires are the giveaway. Any 747 lovers out there want to corroborate?

Apparently the full extent of the project will be revealed after they have cleared through the 777 and 737NG updates.

Read the rest right here over on the PMDG forums.

  1. I am looking forwards to their 747 line up especially. I really would like the 747-400 as that is my favourite aircraft, period.

The -400 main gear can be turned to sideways up to 20°. The pic looks like the gear is twisted to the left, as the aircraft seems to come out of a right turn.

    1. Interesting. I didn’t know it could do that.

Maybe! It wouldn’t be the first time they messed with the file name to throw us off.

      1. On the Felis 747-200, you manage the main gear steering mechanism manually. 🙂 On for taxi and off for take off and landing. It reacts with the pilot steering input when turned on.

One of the things you learn about the aircraft systems while flying an older variant whereas less automation was present.

  3. I love the Felis -200. It, the Colimata Concorde, and the Toliss A340-600 are the main reasons I still have X-Plane installed.

MSFS is gradually closing the gap on all of those 😉

      1. Yes, I’m looking forward to the Toliss/FSS (I *think* it was FSS) collaboration to bring the A346 to MSFS. Hopefully it goes smoothly.

Unfortunately the DC designs Concorde for MSFS measures poorly against the Colimata one in terms of realism. FS Labs supposedly made a very realistic Concorde for FSX/P3D, but as far as I recall they have not announced any plans to bring it to MSFS yet.

The main issue I have with the Colimata Concorde for XP is that it’s *so* realistic that I have yet to fly it. 😦

Aerosoft actually. And that will be an interesting project to see come to release.

iniBuilds are also doing the A340-300 so we’re going to go from no A340 to two over the next year or so. Fascinating.

Too bad about the Concorde. But glad to hear that the one in X-Plane is excellent… if challenging!
