Genuine surprise emerged during Flight Sim Expo 2025 when we learned that industry veteran, Aerosoft, was partnering with ToLiss an X-Plane 12 developer, to bring an Airbus A340-600 simulation to Microsoft Flight Simulator. A new video posted a couple of days ago gives us a look at how things are progressing and how Aerosoft and ToLiss got to this point.

Note: The feature image for this article is from ToLiss’ X-Plane 11 A340-600 release shots. There are currently no images (that I’m aware of) from the new project just yet. Soon I hope!

Learning about the project

Aerosoft Community Manager Raphael aka “Rafi” hosted an interview with ToLiss developer Torsten Liesk. The interview starts with a background story on how Torsten started developing his own freeware Airbus A320 for X-Plane gradually expanding the simulation depth before later taking the project into payware. ToLiss have done a lot to develop their Airbus systems simulation to the point where they are able to simulate large numbers of failures in a realistic fashion. They have also taken their engine and flight model simulation away from X-Plane and done their own simulation that runs in the background.

During the interview, Torsten pointed out that while the ToLiss flight model for their aircraft is ultimately very similar to the way that Laminar does their X-Plane flight model, he and his group arrived at similar conclusions independently. Ultimately the two simulations verify each other. This external simulation means that ToLiss can bring their engines, flight model and systems to MSFS requiring only minimal tweaks to make it possible.

The collaboration, as described in the video, is that Aerosoft will be handling the visuals while ToLiss brings their systems expertise together for this A340-600 variant. The aircraft will have all of the systems features that the X-Plane 12 version and the aircraft will support SimBrief, Hoppie, and Navigraph. The developers’ autosave feature is also coming.

Torsten says that their test model is already doing 12 to 16 hour flights in MSFS so things are already working quite well.

More information coming in another instalment sometime soon!

  1. Curious if Torsten was behind the Flight Factor A320 Ultimate…? Very similar sounding in terms of sim independence & failures, etc.

and FF are known to be working together with Toliss on the A350 v2, etc.

in any case, a Toliss in MSFS is going to be great!
