Regular updates are coming in from SimWorks Studios and the developer has a lot to report. Their Okavango scenery, pulled from sale due to issues with prior versions of MSFS, has been rebuilt and is planned to be offered again. Meanwhile, the PC-12/47 (or Legacy) has just seen a big update and another is coming. GA-8 AirVan native 2024 support is on the way too and there’s a few nuggets about other projects that are being updated. All of that below!

PC-12, Airvan and Kodiaks

The MSFS 2024 version of the GA-8 Airvan is set to be greenlit for launch in the next few days. SWS have been working to bring the aircraft over to 2024 complete with the ability to have it as a streamed package rather than installed. Their deeper systems modeling with reliability and failures system called SystemPulse will have to wait for Sim Update 4 before that piece releases.

The PC-12/47 has just seen an update that went out a few days ago. Correcting bugs, adjusting the crosswind handling and rudder authority, adjusting ITT at higher altitudes, ground handling fixes and visual updates and refinements are all part of this package. Next up will be another update that lets you hot swap the GNS, GTN or GTNXi avionics (just like the Airvan) and expected updates for the WX Radar and EFIS 50 are planned too.

Kodiak 100 is reportedly now fully functional as a native 2024 module including passenger and cargo versions. Following the Kodiak, the PC-12/47 will be converted over followed by the Kodiak 900 and PC-12NG.

Lots of stuff on the go!

Okavango is back!

Early on in SimWorks Studios product releases, the group put together a scenery pack called Okavango Delta. It’s an inland delta in Botswana known for its lush animal habitat and the release came with custom camps, over 4,000 animals placed by hand, and nine custom airstrips to fly to and from. Great for bush pilots! Unfortunately, a Sim Update made loading times for the project excessive and SWS pulled the product from storefronts.

Now its back thanks to a complete rework! Loading times have been fixed and they are checking airport to airport for bugs before release. They expect it out in December!

  1. the PC-12 update came through on the MP version, so I gave it a whirl this weekend.

Have to give them credit – it’s the first time (IMHO) that the takeoff, departure, approach, and landing handling really felt good. 😊 👍

    1. That’s really encouraging! I’ve chatted with the developers a fair bit and I know they continue to work hard on their products.

I plan to do some PC-12 flights and check out the updates!
