Expected to start arriving before the end of the year, PMDG’s long awaited 737NG upgrade for MSFS 2024 is beginning to be seen much more frequently starting today with a flurry of video releases and some screenshots. Let’s have a look.

Upgrades coming

We’ve been waiting a long time to get PMDG’s 737NG for MSFS 2024 but it does seem like we’re getting close. The plan is, as we last heard it, for the 737-800 to come out first and then for the other three models to arrive sometime in early 2026.

New screenshots, above, show off some of the upgraded areas of the aircraft. We’re still waiting on a full feature list of what they’ve done with it, however, we know quite a bit more thanks to content creator videos. It looks like the aircraft has been overhauled inside and out with new textures and materials, new models and details, new sounds, and new interactivity in the cabin. The cabin is upgraded to the newest style offered by Boeing with automated and manual cabin lighting. There’s new flight model adjustments and ground model adjustments to match 2024. It apparently even has the flushable toilet (with realistic cabin pressure blip).

One point of anxiety still working its way around the community is what the cost will be for current owners. While pricing is likely to remain the same as it was before, PMDG have indicated an upgrade price will be needed to get the update for 2024. How much that ends up being will likely determine what the community reaction is, though there have already been various discussions springing up on what it might be. We’ll have to see but I’m hoping they keep it low and with a high degree of encouragement to upgrade.

Video round-up

The embargo is off for content creators so dozens of them, including those I’ve rounded up below, have taken to showing the upgraded aircraft.

  1. The 737NG is looking really good and I look forwards to learning how to fly it.

  2. Do you ever wonder how the PMDG 737 Max family is going? From what I have heard it is on hold for now. I guess they want to get the 737NG ready as well as complete the 747 line up before they decide to take on the last generation of the 737. Seems like a couple of years away to me, though good things take a lot of time.

    1. Often wonder. They are working on it but it does seem to be taking quite a bit longer to arrive than I expected.

It does sound like 747 is next. Then the MAX.

      1. Then hopefully the Dreamliner.

  3. This coupled with SU4 should be awesome. I love the 777, but prefer shorter flights due to time constraints.

    1. Yeah I find it hard to find time for realistic 777 ops. I often fly it short haul or take the freighter version out.

737 back in rotation would be nice. I’m a bit concerned about the upgrade price but we’ll have to see what they come up with.

  4. A330 Driver also posted a different video specifying the new things.

I’ve been using the 2020 version in 2024. A little hacky, but still a good addon.

as long as the upgrade price is reasonable, I’ll go for it.

if not, I’ll give money to iFly for their reportedly very good MAX.

    1. Yeah that sounds like a good plan and something I’d considered as well. Someone in one of my groups said that they may make the upgrade price $7.37 which would be both cutesy and a reasonable price to pay. Fingers crossed.

I will check out A330 Driver’s other video too!

  5. I am looking forwards to the PMDG 747 line up. The 747-400 is what I am looking forwards to most because that is my favourite aircraft of all time.

    1. Nice! A lot of 747 fans out there and I’m excited that they are offering both a classic -100 and more modern -400. Covers a good chunk of the base.
