Last Friday, 1C Game Studios kicked off the Korea IL-2 Series pre-order with a pre-rendered cinematic trailer. Now the company is announcing that a gameplay demonstration is also on the way. Let’s check out the latest announcement.

Gameplay visuals on the way

I was a bit surprised when the pre-oreder began for IL-2 Korea but no gameplay was shown off. Trailers are nice, engineering focused demonstrations of different technologies are nice, but the thing that really seals the deal is when all of that comes together. On a new sim, with new core technologies, its nice to see that happen even with an established developer.

Now we have word that the team are busy putting together a version of the game with all of the pieces coming together to show off the whole thing in action.

Right now we’re very busy making the first gameplay demonstration – as you know, everything that we showed you before when we’re opening the curtain a bit in our Dev Blogs, it was all just the pieces of the big project, bricks for a giant building. These were elements of the game, usually not in a finished state: sometimes with bugs, sometimes just models without textures, sometimes even the mere plans for something. Now we’re creating a version of the game with a complete gameplay cycle: it’s time to announce that we’ll show it in a week, on December 12th.

This is good to see. Perhaps it was always the plan or maybe its a bit of a course correct based on feedback but either way its important to see the sim fully in action. I’m looking forward to it.

  1. I’ll watch. Looking forward to the new wonderful mission editor. 🙂

    1. ha – I fired up the ME the other week and I had totally forgotten how to use it (it’s logical but not intuitive isn’t it). Back in the ROF days as a tester I used to know how to use it really well but OMG, have no idea anymore!

back to the topic – interested in seeing the gameplay, perhaps the feedback did change the plans for showing it earlier than they had planned, the comms and saying it’s ready on the 12th really feels like a reaction rather than a plan.

I never got a feel for the mission editor. I was quite good at the old IL-2 builder but it was simpler and that worked for me 😅

  2. They have also published the system requirements a bit earlier:

    1. Nice. This resolves all my dilemmas as my PC which can run IL2BOX in VR decently, doesn’t even meet the minimum requirements. ( ◔ ʖ̯ ◔ )

It’s quite a bit higher than before. I guess we’ll see how that works in reality.

Great Battles will probably continue to have some extra life as a result.

      2. yes with PC components expected to go even higher in pricing because of AI people will nut rush to upgrade, and in MP i expect only dev servers will switch most will stay in ww2 and GB. Just looking at this cockpit and tarain it dosent justifies game engine switch, its basicly same thing slightly improved, and rest is just same as GB.

Keep in mind that the later planes of GB are much better looking than the earliest ones, and they also improved the clouds and such. So this engine should allow future improvements that were not possible with GB.

    3. Glad I upgraded and built an entirely new AMD 9800X3D system back in August. Though I did have to pay an absurd sum of money for the GPU…

  3. Yep. I wasn’t a big fan of the pre-rendered cinematic video. if you’re not going to show me the actual game, I’m not interested (to the point that the pre-order announcement was more irritation than anticipation!). Show me something like the DCS World “…And Beyond” videos – THEN you’ll have my attention.

In re system specs, I guess that was inevitable. At least i’m comfortably inside the “2D Optimal” specs. 🙂

    1. Just built a 9800x3d with 128 gigs RAM and a 4090. Awaiting a Pimax Super Micro-Oled. With the new game engine that headset might be a resource challenge but if it works it ought to provide a very exciting experience. Still looking forward to Odessa and Leningrad.

  5. Looking forward to this. I hope the flight models are good, and not made by 17 year old hackers with zero real life experience with aviation, like many of the planes in DCS.

Not too sure though. It appears they are focusing more on gameplay and visuals than simulation this time. Console type input devices and so on.

Only one way to find out 🙂
